Sure their team is lacking balance and stability now but if they get 4th place im sure they will go all out spending wise. You could probably also argue they are lacking a top manager but get enough decent players together and they can still cause problems.

Will Torres move to City? maybe. Maybe not. I guess if i were a pool fan too i'd also hate someone even discussing our best players future. But your rants seem a bit sad mate.

The FACT is Benitez would love any of Ade, Tevez, Johnson, Bellamy, De Jong, Given, Ireland and Barry And that's how far we have come. Nowhere near the polished article yet. But give us time, CL football and a couple more world class players and we will be A very serious threat on all fronts. Call me Arrogant if you wish mate. Water off a ducks back. I simpley say i'm optomistic about the most exciting project in football.

If any of you decent Pool fans (of which i know there are many) want a real debate then i'm always up for it. Read my previous posts on your forum and you will see i'm not a WUM.

The whole Merc argument matters not. TBH I couldn't give a flying toss why they come. When they are there they do the job. Are you really going to sit there and tell me Tevez hasn't given 110% every game for us this year. Iregardless of why a player joins they are going to turn up and give their all. I can't ask for any more.

Ofcourse we will use our finacial muscle to draw the players we need while we are still a project in progress. But the better we do the more players will buy into the clubs vision/ambition.... ASWELL as the fantastic wages

it probably doesnt, I just cant wait till this club has at least a little bit of money to spend, I honestly don't see it being all rosy at City in the future but you seem optimistic enough I suppose, enjoy it because IMO it won't last long. Chelsea have tried and IMO they havent exactly became dominant have they? instead they signed ego after ego. Their board is in absolute dissaray and their players appear to be the ones running the club. Be careful what you wish for mate, it might just come back and bite you in the @rse

got to say Bav I never really paid City much attention to be honest, and I never really felt particularly threatened by them. Us on our day would stuff them I'm confident of that. The rumours of Torres never really bothered me either because all the papers are going to be linking them with an x million pound move for whatever world class player near the summer

The arrogance he showed to suggest that if they simply put a wad of cash down that Torres would just follow absolutely stinks. He seems to think that no player in the world has any allegiance to their club at all.

Even with his arguments he seems to imply and condone that if someone came along and offered Tevez more money he'd simply pack his bags and walk and he's happy to allow that to happen with no complaint. Sorry but I wouldn't like to think we have many players like that at LFC

That's the problem Greavsie, when you have so much money you attract a lot of mercenaries. Tevez was interested in us up until the point where he found out we were not going to pay him 120k a week. With that comes the arrogance of the manager. Id like to say the best we can do is do our talking on the pitch but we have bigger problems.

If I was being realistic id say Torres would give us 1 more year if things stayed the same then he would go, but I don't think he would ever go to an English club. He is a player with class both on and off the pitch, he knows how much he is adored here and that's not to say he wouldn't be adored the same elsewhere but I just couldn't see him playing elsewhere in England mate.

But the owners have given power to the banks now so the wheels are in motion. It's a case of just sitting tight now and hoping it all goes to plan for this summer with that and Rafa. All in all id say the most fickle fans in Europe are Real Madrid fans... followed close by Chelsea during their mega spending days... it's already evident City fans are following down that same route, but what do you expect from a club with no history or no class to begin with.

You do, the same as the rest of us. Our victories were earned, City and Chelsea have bought theirs. They can big up there club as much as they like but each trophy the clubs have won in the past before the millions were earned. Any trophies they win from investment will always be known as "bought" trophies.

Failed to mention the money spent on players but takes pride into taking a mediocre team to a decent one while spending millions to that short balance jump.

This is what would concern me if Liverpool were then put into the same position as the glory hunters. Respect is earned. I hate Man United, but they have earned what respect they have, same for Arsenal. As long as "supporters" like him can gloat on other forums about his millionaire team challenging for fourth after spending over £100,000,000 to strengthen the team, it keeps it all in perspective. Our club has the history and reputation to attract the best players (Torres) which in turn they will take pay cuts to join our team.

I doubt Chelsea and Man City can ever have that bragging right.

It totally devalues the competition to have no mark clubs like Man City and Chelsea propelled to the top by foreign billionaires for the very simple reason that nothing but distorting sums of money mark them out from the rest. They may gloat but the trophies they've won and could win will never mean as much as when success is achieved in spite of or is at least not excessively (some might say "pre-")determined by financial might. When the barriers to success are steep and the journey there is rooted in skill and hard-work, it is ever more deserving. It really is quite easy to "go far" if you're Man City though because you're coming from quite a distance anyway.

If you're the Man City manager and you have the chance to sign Carlos Tevez and you proceed, you're making a choice that every other manager in world football would make. For that reason it couldn't really be termed a "smart" piece of business, and neither could most of the other £150m worth. The only skill involved is in the ability of your chief exec to produce an extraordinarily attractive contract. Of course ultimately you need a good manager to bring it all together but the most important work of all has already been done, and it involved no hard-work and minimal skill.

I think its more of getting the balance right rather than shelling out x amount and leaving the club with silly debts that won't be paid off for a long time

Money doesn't guarantee success, so if you splash out loads of fees and wages, it will be dependant on success to bring stability. I doubt Chlesea can afford their wage bill. Abramovich was dependant on them winning the CL and Prem to pay for all he's put in.

Quite frankly I'd be quite worried about the club's financial stability if someone came in and just started shelling out hundreds of millions on players an then reading the silly wages they're on.
