EMILIANO INSUA - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Wed Oct 28, 2009 11:24 am

To be honest he's been getting a bit of uncalled stick from some supporters this season, especially with regards to his positioning at times. I think people still forget how young he is at times.

So let's add a bit of perspective to correct for the experience gap. How would you compare Carra playing in that same position at that same age? If Insua improved to the same extent, how good do you think that would make him given where he is now?

I was looking for an Insua thread.

For me the young Argentine does not cut the mustard, not yet anyway. Yes he is young and he may improve defensively with age, but he is to inexperienced to be playing in a side that is looking to challenge for the league.

Like a typical Argie he is a tenacious little player but this doesn't help when your caught out of position or not stepping up with the rest of the defence and playing a striker onside. His height or lack of it makes him a target for any team trying to get round the back of us, a lot of teams have stuck their aerial threat out wide from set-pieces because of this. On the ball he is decent enough and does try and get forward, technically in possession he isn't bad. But he really for my liking needs to improve on his awareness, this will probably come with age and he'd be an ideal back-up for us. But as I said he is too naive to be playing for a team like Liverpool on a regular basis, he will cost us points I fear.

For me Insua is doing JUST FINE. He´s been thrown in at the deep end and is learning and improving his game as well as can be expected. He has a world cup to look forward to, he´s playing alongside his national capatain - he´s going to have the most exciting year of his life and will sweat blood this year to make it all work out. Lets watch his progress.

The guy is young and learning and not letting anyone down so far - any errors or gaps are just through inexperience as opposed to lack of ability .

"any errors or gaps are just through inexperience"

whether its inexperience or lack of ability is neither here nor there at the end of the day, they can both cost you points.

Yes they can - thats where he needs help from experienced fellow players just like Aurelio did on sunday and that just helps him improve - unfortunatley its a catch 22 situation - the young lads need to play to get experience but it is a risk and so far Insua hasnt cost us points that i remember.

I'm just not convinced by him. I hope I'm wrong, but something is telling me there are a few accidents waiting to happen with him.

I think the one area he does look a bit suspect is when he is turned by an opposing right mid and then beaten by pace but thats where he needs help .

Not my first choice at left back , I'd give it to Aurellio all day long. Insua is imo a "work in progress".

The dilemma is that in order to progress Insua does need to play first team footy on a fairly regular basis, luckily for Insua Fabio's a bit fragile so the opportunites are fairly frequent  :D

so far hes done a fine job.
he was i thought singed out by the manks as a weak point last week and held up well.
he's definately gonna improve with more games and the prospect of playing at the world cup next year will drive him on.
he looks fairly level headed with his feet on the ground.
by the start of next season he will be a much improved player :D

I find it slightly odd that 90% of my posts are defending people now, Rafa, Insua, Wash etc... why have folks become so determined to attack others?

It didnt used to be this bad did it?
