that is my fave film of the last 12 months easy!!!

heimdell - when Fonzie jumped a shark on his bike in happy days it said that was when the show got bad, now, when a show gets bad, its called jumping the shark  :buttrock

Yeah mate,I never got it atal!I found it depressing and boring, you know Im hard to please with movies especially if I think they are gonna be good....maybe I expected too much!

It was a very original idea with the clones and all that but just not my cuppa tea!
Theres a serious shortage of quality out there at the minute in the mainstream movie sector.
I think the fact that Hurt Locker(all be it decent) has got so many awards is proof of this.Compare that to Platoon or Black Hawk Down in the same genre and its nowhere near the same league!

laza wrote:Finally saw Inglorious :censored:, had it moments but overall Quentin jumped the shark for me a while back and this movie hasnt changed my opinion .

Also saw old Japanese action flick the Princess Blade, fairly low budget but some good fight scenes

I quite enjoyed IB myself but I had low expectations going in and I was watching it on a transatlantic flight, which made it a pleasant way to kill time.  I that Christophe Waltz was phenomenal, Pitt was campy fun and the women who played Shoshone was excellent.

Speaking of in-flight movies, I also had an opportunity to watch Damned United with Michael Sheen and quite enjoyed it.  Footy movies are not popular fare in Canada so it was a nice treat...cheers Air Canada.

Oh, and I saw Matt Damon in The Informant.  At first I appreciated Soderberg's quirky take on the by now standard whistleblower formula--it was kind of a Michael Clayton meets Fargo for a bit there.  As it wore on though I just got more and more bored with it.  Final verdict: meh.

have to disagree. i thought it was okay. but not amazing. i think i was hoping for more of a "story"  / plot, but its more like "a month in the life of" - their tasks, what they do, what they're up against out there. Almost documentary style, without all the talking to the camera.

Well shot, some great editing, cinamatography and acting. good film, but not excellent.

Saw Shutter Island, still not sure how I feel on it.  I know people who loved it and said it was mind blowing, however I have the fault of trying to guess what happens next in my head, instead of just sitting down, relaxing, and enjoying what I paid $10 to see.  Sucks when you guess the ending right, but other than that I thought at times the movie moved a bit slow.

Since I still cant make up my mind on it, Ill say its somewhere between a 5-7.5 :D

Crazy Heart - Jeff "the Dude" Bridges.

Along with many i'm a big fan of Jeff Bridges and if you like country music Crazy Heart will probably be right up your street........ AND HERE COMES THE BUT.............

Along with Jeff Bridges I also like country music BUT even I at times was thinking "OK, enough of the songs, can we please get on with the movie"

Great performance from "the Dude" sings all the songs in this story of a past his best alchoholic once famous country star, it almost makes up for a very thin storyline. Despite it being touted as a possible oscar nomination,  "The Big Lebowski" and even "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" is certainly isn't.

Image 6/10 (and thats only because I really like Jeff Bridges and some country music)

Not a bad film, but having seen the US TV spots for it when they are gushing about this "mind-blowing twist" everyone was talking about. I was curious, so I checked it out. Thing is, this so called mind blowing twist was spotted by me roughly half way through the film and it was just so much of a joke, it marred it. So much for that.

Oscar Awards

Best Picture.           The Hurt Locker

Best Actor.             Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart)

Best Female Actor.   Sandra Bullock (Blind Side)

Agree with the first two, haven't seen "Blind Side".

I haven't seen any of those but I agree with Avatar not being the Best Picture of the year.  What a pleasant surprise.  Well in, Academy.

Seen the blind side last night. The film itself is ok, its a true story about a young black man who is taken in my a rich family and ends up in the NFL, its watchable but nothing special but in fairness Sandra Bullock was very good in it in the role she played

I've read the book. It's by one of my fave authors - Dennis Lehane. So I know what happens in the book - if the movie is true to form, then there ain't no suspense....feck !
