I would drive him there myself.

I would rather have 15M to 20M + Micheal Richards + Micheal Johnson. That's my price of Alonso to Man city ..

Lets be serious, 28 mill cash and whoever is willing to pay it can have him. we can talk all day long on here about "35 million", "20 million plus Sneijder and Hunterlaar" but it's all b0ll0cks, unless man City take a shine to him we aint going to get anywhere near that.

True mick, Tbh people over rate Alonso, yes he can pass a ball and dictate play "Sometimes".

But when the oppo squeeze tightly to him, he can very rarely get himself out of trouble, he not a fast
mover and on top of that he will probably end up crippled if he stays in the prem any longer.

i know - but one seasons form can add alot to the value of a player

its swings and roundabouts because we got stung with glen johnson in the same way.

Apparently we enquired about him in January, but baulked at his £11m price tag - (and according to rumour, his value was around £9m last summer.) But we paid £17m for him this summer.

We'd probably have to move Gerrard back to Alonso's spot and do with 2 upfront agaist most sides with Lucas coming on in big games when we chose to revert back to the 1 upfront system... far from ideal but its what i expect nonetheless...
Sneijder would be more or less a direct replacement..
Aquilani would obviously be the ideal replacement but then again, where would we get the cash to buy a backup FW and CB if we go for him ?

Moving SG back ito midfield would be the wrong way to go for me. I think the Gerrard - Torres partnership is one of the best in football. Look what happened when Rafa messed about with it when he bought Keane.

Whatever happens with Alonso we need a back up striker. Nemmeth may just fit the bill without spending any money. I know it's early days but he is showing real promise. Rafa also seems determined to persist with Babel and that might not be the worst thing that Rafa has ever done. I have been a serious critic of Babel in the past but perhaps he deserves more time or am I going mad?

It is a good partnership but then that we cant have any other high profile striker aside from Torres as they would have to play 2nd fiddle to him. Id rather we go 442 and have 2 quality strikers up front all the time rather.

The replacement will probably be Aquilani Reg. And no we don't need a replacement for Torres but we do need an alternative for when he is injured which does seem inevitable at least once a season. Id like to think we can bring on someone decent if he was out and not NGog.

But as someone previously posted this Aquilini plays even less than Kewell and Owen ! It doesnt fill me with confidence.

On the Torres issue, if Rafa was going to buy someone he would have done it by now.

Not really, he needs to sell before he can buy anyone else. Wasn't the Johnson money more or less from the Keane sale?

What I dont like, is the way Real are haggling over £5M; this after completely pushing the
boat out big time spending £80M on Ronaldo.

I mean, I couldn't have see Man U turning down £65M - but they had to make the statement with £80M.

Now they're getting all tight with us over Xabi, who is in his prime and is a regular for Spain.

I know why Barca is my Spanish team. Would love Barca to win the Champs League in the Bernabeu
next May if we dont make it.
