i think they'll win the champs league and if they can get off to a good start in the league they can win it too...
Lets face it, if we had that sort of money we'd be buying just as many players if not more at similar prices... fact that theyr Madrid only makes it easier for them to persuade player to join them.... If Alonso goes they'll have one hell of a team with good balance all round...

anyways... if i was their manager i'd be looking at signing a leftback because obviously thats their weakest link... Marcelo and Drenthe are shhiit to be honest and Arbeloa while being a solid player is obviously not going to add much to the side...

It was inevitable the player plus cash angle would come up, and it makes sense in many ways given the time constraints involved for us signing anybody now. Not only that, but it's a great face saver. If we take Huntelaar plus 8 million, we can claim we got 30 mill as Huntelaar is worth 22, whereas they can claim they've paid 22 total as Huntelaar is worth 14. As long as we're not sweating on the money in order to pay for this Aquilani gadgie (and I sincerely hope he's better than the last Italian player we bought) then all is good.

Without resorting to the ubiquitous (what does that mean actually?) You tube clip with the obligatory house music backing track, can anybody fill me in on what he's like anyway this Aquilani bloke? I've got a mental image of some long haired fella (dark) who ponces about a bit and flatters to deceive. If I seem a little unjustly sceptical, it's because I am.

HUntelaar scored 8 goals and was only there from January. 20 league appearances, but I'm sure a good number of those were not full 90 minute run outs. not exactly a complete flop

Probably I am mate yes. I have no idea about either player though mate, but if you prefer Negredo then that's all good with me.

Huntelaar is more proven than Negredo.. having said that i'd still rather we got Sneijder rather than Huntelaar OR Negredo... if we get Huntelaar (or Negredo for that matter) i wouldnt expect us to go for Aquilani unless the money we get is something silly like 20+mill which i honestly cant see happening now... We'd probably have to move Gerrard back to Alonso's spot and do with 2 upfront agaist most sides with Lucas coming on in big games when we chose to revert back to the 1 upfront system... far from ideal but its what i expect nonetheless...
Sneijder would be more or less a direct replacement..
Aquilani would obviously be the ideal replacement but then again, where would we get the cash to buy a backup FW and CB if we go for him ?
