Real Madrid insist that they have made their final offer for Xabi Alonso, around €8 million short of the minimum fee Liverpool are prepared to accept...

Sources at the Spanish club have revealed that Real had made an initial €24 million bid for Alonso and subsequently increased their offer to €27 million. Real Madrid informed Liverpool of their latest offer by fax and set a deadline of last Thursday for the Premier League club to accept the bid.
Despite this, Liverpool had expected another, higher bid from the Bernabeu - and sources close to negotiations were hopeful that the Anfield club would reduce their  initial asking price from €47 million to accept a fee in the region of €35 million - but Real Madrid insist that they will not pay a cent higher than their latest offer.

With Real`s latest bid falling at least €8 million short of the minimum Liverpool would be prepared to accept and, with neither side seemingly willing to compromise further, the situation has reached an impasse and Real`s reported pursuit of alternative central midfield options in the transfer market is genuine.

If Real don't want to meet our asking price, maybe Sneijder plus money is an option.

Isn't Xabi on his honeymoon now?

Exactly; and to think these guys paid 20MP for Lassana Diarra..

Of course they have the money, look what they´ve already spent.  It'll be good to see Xabi running out in a red shirt on the first day of the new season.

I don't think they can spend any more big money until they sell someone. Maybe once they sell Huntelaar.

Well apparently Real is now enquiring about this fella called D'Agostino from Udinese... don't really know who he is... I just hope that after all this saga, if Alonso and Mascherano stays, they don't become unsettled and still play well for us. Hopefully Rafa and those two will kiss and make up. From the way Rafa has been saying about how the two 'owe' loyalty to Liverpool, he seems to be getting a bit fustrated and that's  not really a good sign. In all of this I can understand Alonso's behaviour... but quite disappointed with Mascherano. He's been saying the whole time he's happy at Liverpool for giving him a chance so on and so fort and then all of a sudden he wants to move back to spain because his wife is unhappy his family's unsettled so on and so fort. Not too impressed.

So you become a guru after two thousand posts...  :D ... was wondering when that gonna happen...

Wouldn't worry about alonso's form. He went through so much :censored: last summer and managed to maintain top form for the whole season.
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.
