The Alonso Thread - hands in transfer request

Ibañez de Agent, on El Mundo Deportivo: "The player knows about this operation, but any decission now is up to the club"

A quote is always a quote. But agent's words are not to be trusted much.

I'm pretty sure that Alonso is going to stay, I doubt he'd be sold to Arsenal regardless of whether or not we need to raise the funds.

Agreed. And i dont see it being a bad thing either. I am sure that Rafa and Xabi can sort out their differences.

What it will probably mean is that the Barry deal will fall through. As much as I'd like to see Barry at the club I think if Xabi stays we will have more than enough in CM.

wtf is the mirror going on about, really:

Midfielder Xabi Alonso's failed move to Juventus means Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has abandoned plans to buy David Villa and David Silva from Valencia - and may have to give up hope of signing Tottenham striker Robbie Keane.

Theres so much wrong with that I dont know were to start

well i think that is partially true as we were depended on his transfer to go through as we would have gotten the additional funds from there , its worrying as we may have to give up one of our transfer targets as this move did not go through , unless which is very unlikely the yanks dig into their own pockets and give us money to acquire the respective signings

On a lighter note , wow mate 53 posts in 1 day ??    :O

I have had absolutely nothing else to do for the past couple of days :D

And that report makes it sound like we would have had a chance of buying villa, silva and keane if we had sold alonso, wtf are we selling him for then, 50mil?

Indeed, apparently Alonso is worth as much as Silva, Keane AND Villa combined.

I think we might have him, could see Alonso going the other way do, however i doubt he will go to spurs as they dont have CL football and he really wants to stay with us.

There are potentially 2 targets if this falls through, one player who i certainly think will take all boxes.

Mourinio can go :censored: himself , Sorry for the bad language :( but i had a feeling he would try an nick Xabi.

INTER COULD TURN TO ALONSO

By Nadia Carminati

Inter Milan will turn to Liverpool's Xabi Alonso should they miss out on Frank Lampard, according to reports in Italy.

Alonso had been strongly linked with a summer move to Juventus before the Serie A giants ended their interest in the Spanish schemer.

The Reds had lined up Gareth Barry to replace Alonso, but have found agreeing a fee with Aston Villa a tough nut to crack.

Inter, under the guidance of new manager Jose Mourinho, are keen to bolster their midfield options and have been considering options.

The Nerazzurri have made no secret of their desire to bring Chelsea's Lampard, but so far no fee has been agreed for his services.

With Mourinho requesting midfield reinforcements and having failed in a move for Napoli's Marek Hamsik, Alonso is now on their radar.

If selling Xabi means we get Keane, then Im fine with that.

Not bothered if it's Mourinho or whoever.

:D  Not one quote or plausible statement that would suggest this is anything more than paper talk.

Exactly i think its just rumors but if they are no buyers and we need the money than i think we should sell alonso to inter , i think mourinho would be able to match our valuation of 16 million . Alonso would do much better in a slower league where he can pick his passes out , like sissoko

Playing against Xabi in the CL would make me sad  :( , and it could be scary.

Why not sell Alonso to Arsenal , according to some ,he's been sh!te for the past two years and he can't cut it in the prem anyway , it's to fast for him . He's better in europe where the pace of the game is slower . If he's  at Liverpool in the league ,why will he be any different at Arsenal .

Exactly   (and thats not sarcasm)

Not when you have monster masch and if we play against his team in the champions league , he still won't be able to pick his passes as teams in the premier league play a fast paced game .  :nod
