I think xabi will not be leaving now as juventus have pulled out due to our constant haggling which i feel is a fair price . I also think that one of our summer signings in shot due to this deal not going through as we could have used the cash for a signing .

Weren't madrid interested in xabi?

The reason Xabi hasnt gone yet is because we dont have Barry, I'm 99% sure Alonso would have been gone if we'd signed gazza bazza already

I thought they already signed Poulsen...

I think their interest is pretty much over.

I think what onehotred has said as some valid point in it , we can't sell a player whose replacement has not been bought yet . We're wasting too much time , if MON keeps holding out for that 18 million , i think its time we have to be like other clubs and stop haggling over that 1 million or so , it has cost us a couple of times already , we missed out on ronaldo when he was younger , simao a couple of seasons back , just cause we refused to pay a little extra

It's not a dead cert according to what I've heard - but almost. A definite decision is expected monday or tuesday. Which should once and for all spell an end to their interest in Xabi.

Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has poured cold water on rumours linking his former Liverpool team-mate Xabi Alonso with a move to the Bianconeri.

Sissoko left Liverpool in January and recent reports suggested Alonso would join him at the Stadio Olimpico before the start of the new season.

However, Sissoko told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I have talked to him and he told me he is happy at Liverpool."

Alonso has been saying that since the rumours started.
He's just being diplomatic.

If Juventus don't buy him it sets off a domino affect.
I'm not sure we'll get Barry if he doesn't go - if Rafa still gets Barry
then I think we can forget signing any other "major" player.

Rumours are rife he's staying and Rafa's targets of Keane and Barny are off.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

He's not going i reckon .

MILAN, July 14 (Reuters) - Juventus have completed the signing of Sevilla midfielder Christian Poulsen.

The Denmark international, 28, has moved for 9.75 million euros and penned a four-year deal, the Italian club said in a statement.

Juve, who enter the Champions League qualifiers next month after finishing third in Serie A last term, have been seeking a new midfielder throughout the close-season.

Poulsen's arrival means it is less likely Liverpool's Xabi Alonso will be moving to Turin while a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Dejan Stankovic also looks dead.

Juve fans do not like signing players from bitter rivals Inter and there was anger from some supporters when news leaked of their club's interest in Stankovic.

The purchase of Poulsen has also led to a lukewarm reaction from some Juve fans, who feel the defensive midfielder is too similar to their tough-tackling Mali international Mohamed Sissoko. A more attacking option is required, they say.

Poulsen is likely to have opposition fans on his back during his first few months in Italy.

Former Italy striker Francesco Totti was banned at Euro 2004 for spitting at the Dane but said he had been strongly provoked, while AC Milan were unhappy with the midfielder's conduct in a Champions League match against his former club Schalke in 2005.

Juventus needed a midfielder after letting Antonio Nocerino join Palermo. Tiago and Sergio Almiron were also big disappointments for the Turin club last season.

I dont see how the alonso deal has anything to do with us going for keane, if anything not signing barry will save us a few quid.

Interesting.  Utd look like getting berbatov now so I guess it counts them out.  Wenger doent spend money like that on 1 player and we seem to be skint so maybe Newcastle want to keep season ticket holders happy with a PR stunt.
