Hoddle was an amazingly gifted footballer (technically speaking) yet never seemed to capture the British public imagination and was under rated (once again because "he did not tackle").

You need tacklers in every team but you also need creative players that can do something special, unfortunately it is rare to find a player that is creative and tough as nails and when you do, they will cost you much more 20 million. I like him and see he is improving so will give him the benefit of doubt (ie he will make the necessary adjustments to succeed in the EPL). The "does not tackle" lable is a bit simplistic because he does but having said that I will readily admit that is not his game and I want him creating and not destroying (we have Mascha for that).

Good post, agree with the sentiments.

Agree

I thought he showed a bit more steel against Spurs
Will probably have to change his game a fair bit to adjust to the English game so its not going to happen overnight.

The main problem for me is where will Rafa play him?
I dont see him dropping either Lucas or Kuyt so that only leaves LM

At a push I would drop Lucas for him, put SG on the right with Kuyt up front with Torres, Rierra or Beni on the left.

Insua       Agger      Carra      Johnson

maxi should prove lots of things to play instead of kuyt. i say this like a atletico supporter. kuyt is not discused for benitez in the starting 11. but i agree with that tactical scheme. and i think it is the best one to have the best of every single player.

So laying on the pass for Dirk to scorer the opener must of eluded you then??

It's like the blind leading the blind in here at the min!!!

Fact is the poster does not want the manager to succeed so it serves his intrest to have Aquilani be a flop. I mean he rates him as five million pound player for fecks sake.

I am convinced from what I've started to see from Albert that he is going to be one hell of a star.

he'll be a replacement for Gerrard.. and not for Alonso.

Rafa has already given the position to mighty lucas.

Gerrard will be gone by the summer and the midfield is all Lucas' :buttrock

Agreed. That way he can share the attacking workload ith Gerrard or, whilst Gerrad i out injured, Lucas or (if Rafa gets his finger out and buys) Scott Parker.

Good balance to that team! It's just getting them all fit at the one time that's the problem.

inferior....no no no

Lucas is in a different league to Aqua-Man - Lucas is in the same league as Sissoko, his first touch is so bad, his second touch is a slide tackle or a header!

Inferior.....me @ss...
