My daughter Kassidy has been cast in a movie where she plays Dakota Fanning's little sister. We are thinking that we might skip this so she doesn't become "Typecast" what do you guys think?

I'm trying to put a pic in here it's just not working.

She looks like Dakota, whats a typecast mate?

Id go let her go for it if she wants to do it, it can only lead to bigger and better things in the future all the stars have to start somewhere.

typecast is a term that's used where a person will only get a roll that is either written or imagined by the director as being suited towards one person. Ie, half the crappy Tom Cruise films from the late 80's. Kassidy has done a bunch of TV shows and some stage work. But this is her first chance at getting on the big screen. LOL she's 8, of course she wants to do it.

I don't know who the fúck is Dakota Fannings but your daugther is lovely.

If I was a father in that situation, my only worry would be how to let her know that the most important thing are her studies, as these juvenile actress careers may not last long.

Good point, She has heard the Dakota comparisons since she started getting involved and she doesn't want that to follow her too far. And neither do I or her mother.

LOL of course if she does this role it'll basically pay for her college education so of course I'm in favor of that .

Sabre, she is the most grounded kid I've ever known. She actually complains if I tell her she can't go to school because she's got a bit of a cold. She's very eager to learn as far as academics go, so that's not a worry (and it would be a worry of mine if she weren't).

Let her have a go at it. I'm all for letting kids experience a lot and then letting them make their own minds up. For example, my own wee girl does ballet, music, drama, swimming....think that's it....and I'm gonna encourage her to try whatever she likes - if something doesn't work out, or if she doesn't feel it's for her, so be it. She can do something else....or not.....I'm easy about it...

What REALLY makes me ill and seethe, are these beauty pageants in the States for small girls. Man that is so sick it's not funny. And just a beacon for paedos and the like. Any parent who pushes a child down that road should be neutered...

To young to be typecast mate, unless she gets the lead in three "home alone" type movies, until then consider almost any opportunity from a positive perspective.

I hope my youngest daughter does not get typecast...things seem ok for now

she was the narrator at xmas because she can talk the loudest and she now has the lead role in the school production of "The Gigantic Turnip" as the turnip :laugh:
