I was shocked to hearon CCN last night that most Americans feel the U.S should go to war with Iran.

for years now its been easy to see the West will not be happy till they hold most of the east.

I dont see the UK going into Iran after all the problems the war we are in has made but you can never tell.

we are being fed info all the time that Iran is a big danger......why are they a danger, we they (Iran) feel they are going to be hit by America any day and that is why they are doing all the weapons testing, this just adds to the american propaganda and makes going to war more easy.

Iran test-fires advanced missile

Iran has successfully test fired a improved version of a medium-range missile, state television has said.

The Sajjil-2 has a longer range than previously tested missiles which could travel 2,000 km, Iran's Arabic-language television station announced.

That would put Israel and US bases in the Gulf within range.

Correspondents say it is not the first time this missile has been tested, but it is likely to provoke condemnation from the West as a provocative act.

Imminent arrest?

This latest test comes on the same day that Iran's judiciary announced it had evidence opposition leaders had tried to foment anti-government tension on the streets following disputed elections in June.

The announcement by judiciary chief Sadeq Larijani is seen as an indication opposition leaders may be about to be arrested.

"We have enough proof about the leaders of this plot against the system," Mr Larijani said.

Our correspondent says the missile launch may be an attempt to distract attention from their arrest.

In September Iran was heavily criticised after testing its Sajjil and Shahab missiles.

That test firing came just weeks after Iran revealed the existence of a previously secret nuclear facility in the mountains near the city of Qom.

I think it's a little more complicated than that, mate. You've got Iran with now-not-so secret nuclear facilities, a long range missile that can target Israel and a leader who denies the Holocaust and feels that Israel is an illegitimate state. I think there's a bit more cause for concern over Iran than you're suggesting.

In any event, I'd have to see the CNN poll you're referring to before I believed most Americans are up for war with Iran, seeing as many Americans are currently baulking at the idea of sending more troops to Afghanistan. I suspect strategic air strikes on the nuclear facilities and/or missile sites are a possibility but I think that would be a last resort. Obama will try to rekindle negotiations with them first.

Iran definately wants nucleur weapons, much more of a threat than Iraq was.

Should they be allowed have them?

USA,UK,France,China,Pakistan,Israel,India all have them. I would view Pakistan as more of a threat than Iran due to the instability.

Iran isn't the worst country out there. I don't understand the belief that Israel is so important, many countries have shakey claims - e.g most of the balkans.

The Iranian "nuclear" issue is a load of old cobblers.

Any military intervention (invasion) in Iran over this issue would just be a cover for what it's really about...oil and strategic footholds. Just like Iraq.

Well now that they have been found to be working on the trigger mechanism for a bomb it's safe to say they are definatley wanting to arm themselves.

I don't have any problem with Iran itself but it's comments about how Israel should be wiped of the map didn't do them any favours.

And they're damn well right to, as well. What, with the US openly threatening them for years, an illegal invasion in Iraq (based on lies) and Israel next door armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons.

Frankly, they'd be fools NOT to be working on some form of weapon.

BTW, Ahmadinejad never said anything about "wiping Israel off the map". That nonsense came from the New York Times and has been deliberately bandied about as propaganda since 2005. "A lie often repeated becomes the truth"

What he said was "The criminal regime in Jerusalem will vanish from the pages of time".

...and he was quoting a speech from the Ayatollah Khomeini, written years ago.

"Wiped off the map" is an idiom that doesn't exist in Persian.

Iran, pakistan then what??? Saudi arabia??? They just love to go into countries using crafty excuses for their own personal interests. Best thing is let all the courtries with newks blow everything up on 2012 so we could start the days of the cavemen again.

sarcasm at the go get 'em attitude. Obama wants to get more right wing votes as he already has the left wing and we'll basically do whatever they do...
And if we're going after the countries with nuclear capabilities, why aren't we sortnig out the india/pakistan crisis? Because theres no money in it and it wouldnt make a good film
