do we think he is running in the pool like a therapy thing or swimming out laps for cardio, or both?

I'm not sure Joe but I do believe we have a good medical team that can resolve chronic injuries. Remember Gerrard and Owen...

As far as I can remember Gerrard was "cured" by a medical team from France, Owen was never really fixed and then there was always Harry Kewell.

Although all of them were also treated by the famous Dr.  Müller-Wohlfahrt now at Bayern I am not sure how much benefit they received from him. (I think he told Gerrard he would grow out of it?)

Another famous "cure" was when they told Gerrard to stop eating Tomatoes to cure his back and groin problems.

So while I am sure that Liverpool have excellent medical staff I wouldn't give 100% credit to them for their treatments. I suppose the best thing they ever did was saving Cisse's leg and his career.

Certainly there is nothing wrong in seeking outside help either.

At the moment im a bit more concerned about Agger and his back injuries because we need him more than we need Aquilani right now.. we arent bad attacking its just defending that we need to scratch up on really.

Not saying that we arent desperate for another midfielder though

 The only reason it has stuck in my mind is it seemed so ludicrous Mick.   :D

I had a quick search but this was the best I could find from the BBC.

The truth about tomatoes

Gerrard hopes healthy food alternatives can help him

As Steven Gerrard's injury saga continues, BBC Sport Online's Mike Burnett questions how valid some dietary theories are.
Claims that eating too many tomatoes are bad for injury-prone Liverpool star Steven Gerrard's health have been dismissed by nutrition experts.

According to some reports in the national press, Gerrard has been told to cut fried food and tomatoes out of his diet in order to solve his injury problems.

Persistent groin and back complaints have plagued the Liverpool midfielder, who has seen a number of specialists.

But will removing tomatoes and fried food really do the trick?

In an age when healthy eating is regarded as being the norm, it seems odd that Gerrard should be told not to eat tomatoes.

you got a point there saint...  :D

I know that Owen became much better for us after he saw that grey haired guy Muller-Wohlfahrt. His injuries reoccured only after joining Newcastle. In any case I've become less optimistic now... Whatever the case is though football clubs would only have physios right? For these long term injuries they would need to have outside specialist help. It is to the medical team's credits that they are able to refer them to these specialists...

Rafael Benitez believes Liverpool new boy Alberto Aquilani will prove to be a better playmaker than Xabi Alonso.

Aquilani has yet to make his Reds debut since his £20million summer switch from Roma but the Italian international has stepped up his rehabilitation from an ankle injury and should be available in October for the Merseysiders.

Reds boss Benitez has previously backed the Anfield new boy to fill the void of the departed Alonso - who returned to his homeland in a £30 million move to Real Madrid.

But the Spanish tactician has elaborated further, claiming the 25-year-old midfielder will carve out more chances for the likes of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres than Alonso did before his summer switch.

Benitez told The Daily Mirror: "Alberto is running again and when we travel to play Fiorentina in the Champions League this week he will stay behind to continue with his rehabilitation programme.

Talent
"I know the fans are frustrated but we have signed a good player with talent and I never worried that we would have to wait for him to be fit.

"Xabi was a player who received the ball and played long and short passes. Aquilani wants to play higher up the pitch than that.

"He wants to be in the final third so that he can create chances.

"In that respect, playing passes to give the strikers the chance to score, he is better than Alonso.

"When he is fit the team will be more dangerous because he has the ability to find Torres and Gerrard with passes that will give them more chances to score.

"He is ahead of schedule for his comeback, but we must be careful with him."

Hey, i'm new here.

I just wanted to say Aquilani is quality and my favourite player from Seria A. Being a Manchester United and Liverpool fan is really hard for me to say whether i would of liked him at Man U or Liverpool. I like both teams though and that's partly because my dad supports Liverpool whilst my mum supports Man U. It was one hell of a day when Liverpool thrashed Man U at Old Trafford.

Anyway i don't think i need to say more about Aquilani then what has been said. For me having Aquilani,Gerrard,Torres,Benayoun and Kuyt all in the same team spells danger. I always favoured Man U for the title not because i liked them more just because they had Ronaldo and his fantastic scoring ability. But for Liverpool look like the better team. I've never really thought Liverpool would do it until realising that Man U just don't look that solid any more. Rooney is a great player but he's not going to score 15+ goals like my Mum said and will be proved wrong. Anyway as a Man U fan and Liverpool fan i think Liverpool will finally get the title. I just think once Aquilani comes in and other great players like Agger then we will really see Liverpool steam rolling. And if the Arabs buy 50% and invest good money in january it's  all over for Man U i think.

Edit: Reading through Aquilani comes back for Sunderland apparently. My mate is relieved (chelsea fan) that he will not be on your bench for the Chelsea game, and he supports Roma as well and was pretty much devastated and worried Liverpool had got Aquilani who he wanted for Chelsea last year.

Sorry for the long post.

I do prefer Liverpool now though. I prefer Man U then i realised how cuntish some of there fans can be, still support them but they've been degrading for periods now. With the signing of Torres that really triggered arguments in my house. My dad bet my mum a £100 he would score over 20 goals in his first season and he did. Then last year my mum bet that Berbatov would do the same and lost.  :;):

Then Liverpools signings have gotten better. My dad didn't want Keane at all and he said he'll be like Berbatov with the shirt being to big, he was correct. I really did question Glen Johnsons 17m although some people told me he was 10m but he's been fantastic so far. And signing Aquilani has me even more excited by Liverpool.

Arguments in my house occur quite often. Loved it when my dad said to my mum your going to get relegated losing to Burnley. Only for my mum to bet £20 on that Burnley would win Liverpool but got thrashed of course. It's on going process but her bets and prices have come way down since her confidence in Man U has dwindled while my dads confidence has sprung up. :D
