I think he's a good player. I don't know about "quality" but I think he ias a very good player. We were apparently in for him a couple of years back but didn't get him ("fecking Parry" ) and if you watched him for Wigan you can see why.

I think he's not settled yet, but I'm surprised that some are writing out the obituries after only a couple of appearances, particularly when those same people implore everyone to give some of our players "time" after three seasons.

We'll see with the Mancs. I'm unconvinced they'll manage to replace Ronaldo with their new formation and personel, but they are good at making sure they win. I though from the highlights that they were lucky to beat Arsenal, the penalty was  bit dodgy I thought, and the own goal freakish.

Arshavin of course continues to look a fantastic player, and is living proof that you don't need a UEFA coaching badge to spot a good player.  He also proves that sometimes it is possible for forum mebers to know better than some professional managers, given Scottbott in particulars insistence that the lad was quality 18 months before Arsenal signed/stole him.

Well spotting saying Arshavin is a great player is not exactly rockey science mate - he was outstanding for Zenit during their UEFA Cup run two years ago and then backed it up in the Euros and im pretty sure o most professional managers would take him in a flash - more so the fact that most of the big clubs chased him but bulked at the price and then the player stated he only wanted to go to two clubs - Barce and Arsenal .

As for Valencia - watched him when he played for Wigan and bar the odd time he didnt consistently stand out for him the way you expect a 18 mil player to stand out for a lower team - Palacios did stand out but for me Valencia didnt and now he has gone to mancs for 18 odd mill he still doesnt look the player some have touted him too and i fully expect his end product to be the same as always - pretty low .

Yes the mancs were poor once again yesterday and were extremly lucky as though Arsenal deserved to win that game - they had a clear penalty denied and for me i though rooney was already going down when the keeper hit him but bar that penalty and own goal how many clear cut chances did they create ?? not many at all and offensively they seem very weak comapred to last season .

Well "rockey" scinece or not  ??? if it was that obvious why didn't we sign him? What did they pay for him, 14 million quid or something (cue somebody coming on and saying its actually 53 with "add ons").

All that old b0ll0cks about he'd only sign for Arsenal or Barca, where did you get that from mate? I thought our manager was the top man for attracting players anyway, just by the force of his personality and the like ???

Ah bringing out the old sarcasim again mate - think zenit wanted zenit wanted 20 mil plus for him last summer but arsenal got him for 15 mil plus during the jan transfer window - no idea about add ons etc but know he was a little bit cheaper due to being CL cup tied . As for Rafa not going for him - maybe he just didnt want him as we showed no interest in him im guessing that was the reason and we went and spent 20 mil on keane instead - now i never wanted that to happen and would of loved Arshavin instead . Why Rafa didnt want him or any of the other top managers maybe you would have to ask them mick - but im sure they are know he is a quality player . And the player himself in an interview said that he wanted to play for either Barce or Arsenal becuase he loved the way they played football and im guessing Barce was his first choice but they refused to pay the 25 mil price tag at the time .

Man City looking the business once more.  Granted, it's against Portsmouth but they've got Barry and Ireland pulling the strings in midfield, Wright-Phillips and a menacing Bellamy working the flanks and Tevez and Adebayor causing problems up front.  So far Hughes seems to be managing the egos well and getting everyone to pull in the same direction.  They are definitely top four quality and we will need to be on our game when we play them.

their next 2 games are home to arsenal and away to the mancs - those 2 games could derail them a bit.

I'm one of those that looked at the signings they made and thought "oh feck they look to have reached a critical mass of quality players in most positions" rather than dismiss them because they'll take time to "gel", whatever the hell that means

hope they can take a few points from our big 4 competitiors, but we're certainly in the most vulnerable position because of our start to the season...

I didn't. Care to fill me in? Please tell me City looked shaky towards the end and have underlying problems.  :D
