Without Ronaldo there's a real hole there, and it's no surprise that they've managed to score only one goal in two matches, against Birmingham and Burnley. Rooney's quality sticks out like a sore thumb, but there's precious little inspiration from anywhere else. The feeling persists that they are going to have to find a little bit of magic from somewhere, and if that means putting up with some of the foibles from Nani so be it. Judging by the performance at Burnley though, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if they go back into the transfer market and spend big before deadline day.

Besides how much they miss Ronaldo this is the kind of result that weights all over the season, as they'll be again in the same position and the same doubts will arise. Very good news indeed thanks for the report.  :buttrock

The first eleven Tottenham put out tonight was better than United's.

Wonder if the press will mention Fergie's rotation policy tomorrow? ???

Thought not.

I was thinking that too Mike as  watchd them stumble around Turf Moor without any noticeable fluency or cohesion. We know from bitter experience how dangerous it is, and how dehabilitating it can be to a teams confidence to mass rotate before a team has any momentum.

I was slightly heartened by Ancellotti making four changes to Chelsea's team as well, and unsurprised that they went in 1-0 down. Fortunately for them, they went through the gears in the second half and got home, but I do enjoy it when our rivals put themselves under pressure in this way.

Ironic really that just as we seem to have got over the nonsense of the whole thing, other teams are giving it a go. Good luck to 'em

I only caught some of the highlights but Spurs continue to look outstanding. At this stage I wouldn't put any other side out of the top four ahead of them.

The Burnley one surprised me a bit, but not massively as if you'd seen them in the Carling cup last season you'll have seen they can play a bit, as well as all the hard-work and energy that is inspired by the crowd. They'll be down there but I wouldn't right them off, and that I thought before tonight. The Manc's missed a bit of spark and directness, as we all probably anticipated they would.

Agreed,they do look great....so far.
But theres always one team who comes out of the blocks full of adrenaline and punching above their weight...every season!

Soon they will get beat at home by some cr@ppy team then after the match the players will all be brought down to earth and remember they are only Spurs, thats when they will find their level!
Still reckon they'll be in the top 6 with Man City on either side of them! :nod

Spurs do look good mate, but they do this every couple of years and never have the bottle to sustain it.  I'll be amazed if they even push the top four this year.

They will have problems with those strikers.  Crouch and Defoe will turn out to be the best combo in the long run, but Keane's the captain and as we know can't take sitting on the bench.  They won't keep them all happy.  We'll see...

They have spent a lot of money down the years so maybe this is going to be their year.
