I dont know those two Woof, I´ll take a look. Tks.

If it encourages you Reg

The Road to Stalingrad
Stalin`s War with Germany, Volume One *

    * John Erickson

Selected as an "Outstanding" title in the 1999 Association of American University Presses (AAUP) University Press Books for Public and Secondary School Libraries

In this first volume of John Erickson’s monumental history of the grueling Soviet-German war of 1941–1945, the author takes us from the pre-invasion Soviet Union, with its inept command structures and strategic delusions, to the humiliating retreats of Soviet armies before the Barbarossa onslaught, to the climactic, grinding battle for Stalingrad that left the Red Army poised for its majestic counteroffensive.

“Erickson. . . has written the outstanding history of the Soviet-German war in English, or, for that matter, any language. The research alone is breathtaking. Erickson has mastered all the Russian sources and compared them with the German records. . . . He has shed light on many heretofore murky matters.”—Reid Beddow, Washington Post Book World

“Masterly. . . . A vividly detailed yet comprehensive account of the decisive Eastern-front battleground.”—Christopher Hudson, London Evening Standard

“The outstanding book on the Soviet war in any language.”—A. J. P. Taylor, Observer

“This authoritative book by a first-class military historian is easily read.”—Philip Warner, Daily Telegraph

John Erickson is professor of politics and director of Defence Studies at the University of Edinburgh.

A selection of the Military Book Club

*Volume two is The Road to Berlin

Apologies, seems I've dragged this thread off topic.

We used to have a "what are you reading thread" , can't find it, no complaints if someone starts a new one.
In the meantime we should return this thread to it's source.

New shows, what are you watching ?

:D

what am I watching?

tru blood: meh like said but could be a great slow burner
The Mentallist: Really enjoying, great character, great actors, funny and clever
Lie to Me: Similar to mentallist, Tim Roth never dissapoints, last of season about to air
House: getting very samey, and House is just turning into a nasty character
Supernatural: Brilliant
NCIS: really enjoy this, massive in america, not too big here, very cool show
Reaper: excellant again, hope it gets its 3rd season, but it wont
Entourage: classy as ever
The 11th hour: Rufus Sewell is good in it, about to end, think it got canned as well
Life: Damien Lewis and a lovely gal, again, not been given another season

Burn Notice season 2 should be starting soon, just given the green light for season 4 in america

Never got into K-Ville, anyone watching that?

never got into NCIS, how much navy crime can you think up of? and now there is going to be NCIS: Los Angeles

agree about mentalist, lie to me, and 11th hour

i sort of like tru blood. Not really crazy about it, but I watch every episode and they keep bringing me back. Maybe its sookie, plus the way they are introducing vampire culture is interesting to me, even though I have never been a horror movie type of person.

entourage, E needs to leave this new girl, she looks like she is 10 years old.

seen 'em all, like it a lot.  I wouldn't say most favorite, but its really solid. Certainly has the most developed characters of any HBO/SHOW comedy series

Duchovny is a great actor, he fits that role so well. It probably helps that he is a sex addict in real life too. :D

Watched it last night - it was 'meh' th...

More i watch him [Louis] the more i appreciate his style of interviews. He's not in your face, or fishing for soundbites to hang some poor sod with...yet he still manages to ask the right questions (albeit in a slightly watered down manner) in order to make an interesting enough documentary. He does though....look very 'awkward' at times! Still, kudos to him for getting in there.

Done some great ones over the years - this one was...OK.
