Last I heard Valencia’s financial problems had eased?

Valencia gain financial fillip - Soriano reassures fans that stars will not leave

Former Valencia president Vicente Soriano has stated that the club are under no pressure to sell their stars after receiving a €500million (£432m) boost.

The Primera Division side have struggled financially of late and further players were expected to leave this summer after Raul Albiol was sold to Real Madrid.

Attackers David Villa and David Silva have both been linked with big-money moves away from Los Che, but Soriano has eased fears of an exodus.

Soriano has regained control at Valencia and revealed on Monday evening that an investment group, Inversiones Dalport SA, is willing to pay €500m for the site of the club's old Mestalla stadium.

"The grand Valencia project was held up by the economic crisis," Soriano said in quotes carried in the Spanish media.

"The club had a serious liquidity problem which paralysed its plan for growth. The very existence of Valencia was under threat but this is no longer the case."

He added at a press conference: "We will not be obliged to sell."

David Silva is more likely to be sold by Valencia now his team-mate David Villa is set to stay

That headl;ine could be from Friday, 24 July 2008 as much as 2009. Talk about recycling stories on a slow news day!

even if valencia are not in the s.hit financially as much as they were previous. They are still a club that is not in the CL league next season and is not in the same league as us ambition wise.

ALVARO ARBELOA is expected to join Real Madrid next week.

The Liverpool defender will make a £4.5million switch to the Bernabeu.

But Kop team-mate - and fellow Spanish international - Xabi Alonso looks to have missed out on the chance of a move to Madrid.

Arbeloa, 26, was signed from Deportivo La Coruna for £2.6m two years ago.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez originally wanted £8.5m for the full-back, who made 43 appearances last season.

Real responded with a bid of £2.5m but now the clubs appear to have reached a compromise figure of £4.5m.

Arbeloa's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon said: "Discussions with Real are not over and I expect a solution early next week."

And Real sporting director Jorge Valdano added: "Arbeloa is a basic part of our plans."

Real have been looking to strengthen their defence and midfield after splashing out nearly £180m on forwards Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema.

But it looks as if their £24m move for midfield linchpin Alonso has ]hit a brick wall. A Madrid source said: "It's at a standstill."

Benitez has been desperately fending off Madrid's overtures for Alonso and a Barcelona raid for fellow midfielder Javier Mascherano.

But while Alonso and Mascherano both want to play in Spain, one Madrid player fancies trying his luck at Liverpool - and he's a bit of an animal!

Hitman Alvaro Negredo, nicknamed the Wild Animal, seems to be on his way out of the Bernabeu after Madrid's striker spending spree.

Negredo, 23, came through the ranks at Madrid but was farmed out to Almeria for two seasons, where he scored 32 goals in 70 games.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp wants to sign the 6ft 1in hitman but he is not keen on a switch to White Hart Lane.

Now Negredo is hoping Benitez will meet Madrid's £13m asking price - and team him with Spanish scoring sensation Fernando Torres in the Anfield front line.

Not a bad return on him. 8mil for a player in his last year was always going to be a stretch. Still I cant see him being a starter there. They have Ramos on the right and Marcelo on the left, probably the best 2 in their positions in the world. (maybe not Marcelo yet)

Ungrateful :censored:.

Ramos is pretty poor at defending IMO

its nice to see Rafa being unforgiving to those trying to snatch our players, settleing for 4.5m isnt bad, hes showing he's not going to be p!ssed about anymore, I like it  :)

surely were gonna see one more big name coming over the waters right?
