BARCELONA have stepped up their pursuit of Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas.
The Catalan giants' president Joan Laporta claimed signing £40million-rated Fabregas is high on their agenda this summer.
He said: "Signing Cesc this summer is not a solution we have discarded."
Laporta openly tapped up Fabregas, 22, last week when he told the Spain star to declare he wants to join his boyhood club.
It was reported on Monday that the Arsenal board were bracing themselves for an offer from either Barca or Real Madrid - and would reluctantly part with the star for around £40m.
Real could turn to Fabregas after being frustrated in their bid to sign Liverpool's Xabi Alonso.
After nabbing Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema, Real are still looking for a classy midfielder to pull the strings.
ROBIN VAN PERSIE, who has signed a new long-term contract, last night told Arsenal fans to keep faith with Arsene Wenger.
The Dutch striker, 25, said: "I trust the manager and my message to everyone is to be patient, trust the team and the people above."
Good let them fight it out instead of going for alonso and masch
