At the end of the day it is his body and people will make it aware to him the long term risk of not resting properly between seasons especially when he has had a few injuries this year. If he doesn't the he risks being injured again later on down the line.

I just read this article about Torres.  He wants to stay at Anfield long term, but said eventually he wants to play in Italy.  I'm not sure what to think about him saying he would want to play in Italy one day.  Your thoughts?

Benitez: Torres still troubled by hamstring woes

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is still being troubled by a hamstring injury that has restricted his appearances in the club's fading pursuit of the Premier League title.

The Spain international returned from a two-week layoff Saturday to help the Reds beat West Ham 3-0 despite struggling for fitness.

"The hamstring is a problem for Fernando, he was working with the physios this week, but not his teammates on the pitch," manager Rafa Benitez said. "I think next week he will be training normally with the team and hopefully will be fit for the next two games.

"Since Fernando and (Steven) Gerrard didn't train normally this week they weren't going to be sharp or fit. But anyway, you can see both players are a threat and a very good influence for the team."

Torres has scored 16 goals this season, compared with 33 in his debut campaign last year.

Despite his injury concerns, Torres is determined to represent European champion Spain at the Confederations Cup next month.

-----------------

Rafa needs to step in and have a word with him. There is no commercial need for him to go to the confederations cup. As it is he will be coming on the pre season tour so he should really sit this one out. Otherwise we need to maybe get in another striker of his quality to rotate him with as we cannot keep relying on him next season if he constantly in and out with injury.

his determination to play for Spain is beginning to annoy me a bit
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Well maybe another stop start season for Liverpool with injury possibly worse than this season is what he needs to screw his head on straight. The thing is if he doesn't take a rest this season it can all accumalate in the future. Don't forget the following season there is the world cup so that could again mean a short summer.

Fifty goals in 84 games for Liverpool!  What a staggering stat that is and hopefully he's just getting started.  :buttrock

Fantastic header, a complete footballer.

When you look at all the goals that he has scored, they are all from different spots: right foot, left foot, different angles, different speeds and a variety of headers as well. Its great having the best striker in the world.

On his way to legendary status already.

That's 50 goals quicker than Fowler, Owen, Rush or Aldridge.

Yet some on that other forum I go on reckon he isn't a natural finisher!

50 goals in 84 apps is phenomenal, it's not as if he can't score in the big games either. He has scored virtually twice as many at home than away, but you wouldn't really expect much different.

FERNANDO TORRES (LIVERPOOL)

Total : 50 goals in 84 apps, 6,429 mins (0.595 goals/app, 129 mins/goal)
Home : 33 goals in 43 apps, 3,491 mins (0.767 goals/app, 106 mins/goal)
Away : 17 goals in 41 apps, 2,938 mins (0.415 goals/app, 173 mins/goal)

Goals 01-10 : 10 goals in 16 apps, 1,115 mins (0.625 goals/app, 112 mins/goal)
Goals 11-21 : 11 goals in 15 apps, 1,279 mins (0.733 goals/app, 116 mins/goal)
Goals 22-31 : 10 goals in 13 apps, 1,047 mins (0.769 goals/app, 105 mins/goal)
Goals 32-41 : 10 goals in 24 apps, 1,726 mins (0.417 goals/app, 173 mins/goal)
Goals 42-50 : 9 goals in 16 apps, 1,262 mins (0.563 goals/app, 140 mins/goal)

Awkward fecker went and scored a hat-trick in his 31st game, but essentially it breaks down reasonably into 10 goal spells. Even when not in the best scoring form, when he missed spells through injury this season in scoring nine goals in 26 appearances out of Liverpool's first 42 games.
