Real Madrid will soon sort Xabi's contract out Nanny  :D

Great news about Torres though, because I did wonder after his latest "quotes" in the papers if he was thinking about a move.Hopefully this shows his commitment to Liverpool and Liverpool's commitment to him.

I think they have offered this improved deal to Torres because we are bringing another striker, possibly Tevez.

Torres and Gerrard should be on the top rung of the wage scale, but I suspect if this new striker's wages would have been higher than what Torres was recieving prior to renewed deal.

Seems like good pre-emptive management

Dont think we pay him much

Liverpool star Fernando Torres marries girlfriend Olalla in least pretentious footballer's wedding ever

Footballers' weddings are usually star-studded showbizzy affairs with mega-bucks magazine deals to match.

So well played to Fernando Torres, who married childhood sweetheart Olalla Dominguez in a secret ceremony with just two guests.

The Liverpool striker, 24, snuck off to the tiny El Escorial town hall north of Madrid for a low-key ceremony conducted by a local councillor.

It was a far cry from the lavish celebrations preferred by the Beckhams, Rooneys and Coles.

A source said: “It was hardly a ceremony fit for a superstar. It was small and romantic, but there was nothing glam about the day at all.”

The couple, together eight years, decided to tie the knot last Wednesday before Olalla, 23, who is seven months pregnant, gives birth.

She is not your typical Wag, preferring to stay out of the limelight while she studies at the Spanish equivalent of the Open University.

She said last year: “Fernando is very shy and a very good person. He is the man of my life.”

The £20million Spanish star was expected to marry in a cathedral wedding. The source added: “Fans expect something lavish from a local hero. They may be planning a bigger public do.”

Fernando has married in the Escorial by surprise. This monastery is famous because there rest the bodies of many Spanish kings of centuries ago. But you beat me to it!

Fernando has already received some kind of award in Marca, and has stated something you'll probably like:

"If Rafa went to Madrid some day, I wouldn't follow him, I'd stay at Liverpool". :)

That is why Fernando is my idol  :)

He is a footballer who follows his heart and not his wallet.

Apart from his 120,000 quid a week through to 2014, I agree with you!

It is a lot of money but he is possibly the best striker in the world in his postion. We cannot leave any room at all for other teams to come in and tempt him so high wages is a must.
