Untill today I havn't had the chance to talk about the Madrid game... I was in a pub in London full of Liverpool fans and You'll never walk alone was blasted out as good as any other pub in the ocuntry at that point. Was a cracking night... today tops it. I watched the game with a few mates at home with some tinnys. I got so :censored:

on Tuesday... work was chaos on Wednesday. Worst day ever but I had a constant smile on my face becasue of the previosu evenings activities. Tonight will no doubt end the same... I love being a LFC fan..

Sir Alex Ferguson refused to be too downbeat despite watching his Manchester United side lose 4-1 to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Liverpool arrived in Manchester trailing the champions by seven points but stole North West bragging rights courtesy of a fine performance on their travels.

Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty put United in control before defensive mistakes from Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra allowed Liverpool to forge ahead by half-time courtesy of efforts from Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.

It go no better for a below-par United after the interval as Vidic was sent off and Fabio Aurelio and Andrea Dossena scored further goals for Rafa Benitez's rampant Reds.

Ferguson, though, believes his team's overall performance was not too bad as he backed his players to show a positive response in their next game.

Unfair reflection
"It is a hard one to take because I thought, really, we were the better team and the score does not reflect that," Ferguson claimed.

"But of course when you win 4-1 at Old Trafford you deserve all the plaudits and you can't deny them that.

"If the league was starting today, you would take a four-point start.

"It was a bad day in terms of the goals we lost but I couldn't argue with the quality of play that much."

Response needed
Ferguson was willing to concede some of his players were not at their best but refused to point the finger at individuals.

"One or two players were a little bit short today in terms of what we expect of them but I do know the football was good, we kept driving on and they showed good energy, even though we only had two and a half days to prepare for the match, he added.

I went the game at anfield when we lost 4-1 to the mancs back in 1970 or 71.................finally I have got payback, and it feels great!

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hopes the team's crushing 4-1 victory over Manchester United will not only spur the Merseysiders on as they play catch-up at the top of the Premier League, but will also prove to other teams that the leaders can be beaten.

Rafael Benitez's side battled back from a goal down to defeat United in clinical fashion, Fernando Torres and Gerrard turning the match on its head before the break, with Fabio Aurelio and Andrea Dossena easing Liverpool well clear before the end.

Gerrard said: "The important thing is that we have made the gap smaller (United lead by four points still with a game in hand). We realise that Manchester United are a fantastic team and there's still a lot of work to do.

"We'll need a little bit of luck along the way but hopefully that gives teams that are going to play against Manchester United a bit of belief that they can be beaten. And hopefully it will give us a lot of confidence to go on and win as many games as we can."

The England midfielder was ecstatic to score his first ever goal at Old Trafford, but praised the team performance as a whole for their second four-goal haul of the week.

"I've been lucky enough to experience winning here before and that was also a magnificent feeling, but to score a goal after all the stick I've had from United fans over the last 10 years - well, it's nice to score and rub it in a bit.

"It was magnificent, a great team performance. From front to back we worked very hard today, showed great character after going a goal down and it was a magnificent win.

"In the end it was comfortable with a man being sent off, but I think we were men today, we controlled the game. It's not very often you see Manchester United getting beat 4-1 at home."

The red nosed one does not give interviews to the BBC but he or no body from the sad fockers gave Sky an interview.
