It's a weapon for teams that ain't very good, hurling the ball at tall targets in the area.
But is there any point us hurling the ball into the area when we've not many good headers of the ball? Unless you have an accurate long-ball merchant to throw it in, you could simply waste possession. Best use of a throw in from my perspective is what we did against Besiktas, quick and releasing a player (even if it should have been their throw!) We do lose possession too easily at times from throw-ins, but more often from passes
PS has anyone noticed how often we squander possession in open play, from free-kicks, corners, shots..........................? Quick, make Sir Roger the manager.
