Just back from a day at the beach with the kids and we've won 2-0 well in the lads!! Tremendous result !! Now I have to read the last 25 pages to find out what happened but I see Fat Fagg'ot Frank was sent off so that wasa highlight.........

Well done Reds.

Strange, didnt see kuyt had any assists.  Just because a player touches the ball on the build up to the goal doesnt mean they played a part in the goal itself.  Lots of players touched the ball on the way to goal, lets mark them all down for assists.

Thats how it works..ya pass the ball and try and keep it,ultimately its good to get it in the net!Today was all about Torres but it was also a very good TEAM display

You should'nt be talking anyway, you were calling for subs after 25 mins of the game!

Did i say assists ? Kuyt played a great one two with gerrad then gerrrard played the ball onto aurelio who crossed for torres to score - so for someone with a poor touch it was a great little move and lkept the whole move flowing  (unless it was someone else not kuyt but im sure it was ) and then won the header on for yossi to help create the second - so played a part in both those goals .

Actually Kuyt touched the ball about ten minutes before both goals. On one of the occasions the ball ricoched off his shin and went out for a throw in. From that throw in Chelsea ventured forward, then Ashley Cole got tackled by Arbeloa. Anyway, a passage of play ensued in which Gerrard passed it to Aurelio who knocked it out of play (you thought that was the goal coming didn't you?). Anyway, a little bit after that, Cole was getting confident now and went forward again. We got in behind him, it wnet accross the pitch, Aurelio crossed it and Torres scored.

Anyway my point is that because it hit Kuyt's shin ten minutes earlier and went for a throw in, that made Cole get his hopes up. Not quite an assist but I think you'll agree a significant contribution   :D

Like i said earlier - where exactly in my post did i say he had an assist ? i said he played his part in both goals - both by playing that one two with gerrard who then realsed aurelio plus the header on to yossi for the second - its like the manc goal where you said masher should get more credit for hunting down giggs forcing hr ball to kuyt who then set up babel ? so why does kuyt go no credit for what he did today ?

There are times when his touch is so bad, so awful that you wonder if he's not a non-league player who has won a Jim'll fix it prize of a game for his favourite team. There is no doubt that his form such as it was has tailed off a bit, and although the fate didn't as it turned out befall us today, it's easy to see why we sometimes struggle to break teams down.

FWIW I didn't think Riera was much better either today. I thought him and Kuyt were by some distance our worst two players. After his midweek performance and todays cameo, I never thought I'd hear myself say it but Yossi Benayoun surely must be knocking on the door to replace one of them.

Thankfully today i thought both full backs for us were excellent, with Fabio Aurelio being our man of the match for me.

that has to be one of the worst post's iv'e  ever read on this forum mick,

Sorry about that mate, can't win em all I suppose  :D

I really, really do not know what to say....

- Well I guess firstly I was elated that we won. That was a much needed win for all connected with the club.

- I think it "keeps us" in the mixer, even though the Mancs have a game in hand. The game at OT is seeming more important by the day!

- How delighted was I that Rafa took the game by the scruff of the neck and went for an attacking sub! It was needed and it worked.

- The referee annoyed the hell out of everybody connected with the game IMO. But I would by him a drink for giving Lampard his marching orders! Bet they're going crazy down there in there white tracksuits and Burberry caps!

- I didn't like the look of the distance between our "co-owners". I use the word in its weakest possible sense. However, it does show something that they will give up the SuperBowl for us!

- Fernando is back on scoring form. Just keep him fit please! When's the next Spain game. We normally loose him during them!

- However, it is still not all hunky-dory. There is still some work to be done. But we can beat the top teams....so why the feck loose points to the "lessers" teams. Nobody knows!

But that's my outlook on today!

Reading, it helps. (Wanted this to be a de-motivational, but there wasn't any  :(  )

I give him more credit for the first then I do the second.  I thought that was more of Coles mistake and Yossis pickup and pass.
