At the moment we are cr@p compared to Manure and in fact most other teams in the league and that is what hurts.

BTW 05 CL wa down to Stevie G a hell of a lot more than it was Rafa but I will agree that Rafa is smart in Champions league football but why can't he translate that to the prem even after 5 bloody tedious years of dull uninspiring football.

most other teams ? which most other teams seeing as its pretty much only chelsea and man utd that have better records than us in the prem since rafa arrived .

he messed up taking yossi and gerrard off the other night - but the players must also take a lot of the blame for last night .

Yes I agree - Lucas is the obvious target for a clumsy and unecessary tackle - but he was not the only one.

yeah stupid tackle from lucas . think the only player who can be excused any blame is yossi and pepe who did nothing wrng . torres was awful and something not right there unless he is just tired . gerrard had a poor game (still dont take him off thou ) mash was up and down , lucas was ok until that tackle . babel had one run and shot the rest of the time was nowhere . the defence just look shakey since skrtel has come back and we need agger back in there . arbeloa and aurelio while trying to get forward offered no threat . thats all the players fault .

Lucas should never have been on the pitch at all, not over a fit Alsonso and not in a must win game.

The blame for that lies pure with Benitez. Nobody else.

and do we play alonso again against chelsea and then next game and the next and the next ? look at torres - he was totally shattered and had no energy due to the amount of games he had played in a short time .

Yes, damn right we do. There's no choice now. Benitez's buggering around has cost us loads of points and there's the need now to play our best players.

and how long do you think he will last playing those amount of games before he gets injured or is just too physically tired before a big game - ie the mancs or big cl game ?

With the money spent we should have enough options - problem is that a lot of the purchases are not good enough. Lucas is a case in point - Rafa clearly rates him - but I don't understand why?
He doesn't have the passing range of Alonso , the tackling / aggression of Mascherano or the goal threat of Gerrard.
Why not give Spearing a go?
Babel's recent form is a real concern - what has happened?
Don't think Masc is playing at his best either!

Torres may have been somewhat tired last night, but he's coming off of a bad hammy injury. Alsonso is fit and should start ahead of Lucas in a match of such importance.

Either way, it wasn't Torres' fitness levels that led to him being cut out of the game. It's was the fact that he was the only one in the box and smothered by the Wigan defence.

The away game at Spurs in the Cup was a shocking indicator of how strong our squad is.

I still believe we are in a shout if 2 things happened
1) we play our strongest team available
2) we be more positive
ie don't sit on a 1 nil lead
Look at Utd - they were 2 up at West Brom at half time and still went for it in the second half.
We get the 1st goal , take off our forwards , sit on the lead , give away set pieces as we invite the opposition to attack and pay the penalty
