great post emerald . Top game from gerrard lucas masher yossi kuyt and sami . Good game from everyone else including babel who at time threatened and at times was poor but got himself a goal . Mom was gerrard slightly over lucas who was very very good . Pinged the ball around lovely , put in some crunching tackles , played some lovely balls for gerrard and would of got on the scoresheet if it wasnt for given

What's Rafa think he's playing at picking that team selection? And how dare they go out and batter Newcastle 5-1 playing like that? I tell ya, the man...he know nothing.

many of us were shocked by the exclusion of Riera, Alonso and Keane and the inclusion of players who dont perform as well as the trio. dont come on after its all done and dusted and be all cocky showing us what an amazing fan you are. you always come onto match threads at the end and post cr@p like these. its getting old. we're all happy with the win so spare us all your tosh.

Aye because it was that selection that won us the match. We'd have never won that game if we'd put out our best team!

I think Rafa should stay in the stands more cos we have looked a lot better since he hasn't been in the dugout, maybe he sees the game better from up above or maybe he interfere's too much when he stands on the touchline??

what that needed? what was he trying to prove? that he is a better fan who has far superior belief compared to the rest of us? look back in all the match threads and you'll see how often he does it. and it winds people up cause we all want the same thing but then comes along out of the blue a superfan with a cocky post. it often gets an unpleasent reaction from other posters here.

ive already spoken of this issue in this thread .

Did it matter? It obviously turned out to be the correct selection.

I tell you what is old, lad. Constant rebuke and detain, and downright faithlessness of the manager and his choices before a ball is even kicked. Judge the manager and his choices after the final whistle, not before it.

max many people were going on about the selection but some decided to wait and see at what actually happened before slagging off our manager and his team selection , ie showing a bit of faith in the players and manager , hindsight is wonderful but i bet not many people would of posted what they did if they knew what the end result would be . But today showed that it seems not many people have faith in the manager or a lot of our players .

Why? So the happy clappy, like you, can bang on about how its all well and good we slag him off afterwards with hindsight and how the happy clappy, like you, can say "knee jerk reaction" and bang on about how great a fan they are and how rubbish everyone else is.

Do you know why alot of people have lost faith in the manager? Because of selections like today. It was a massive gamble, gambling is luck. Gambles don't always pay off.

To be quite honest, anyone who gambles is a mug (not saying I don't like a bet, everyone does) and thats exactly what Benitez done today. He's spun the roulette and got a winner, doesn't make up for all the times in the past he's got it wrong and all the times in the future he'll continue to get it wrong.

yes i agree with you here lol. but we're just nervous anxious overexcited beings who cant keep calm and maybe we're not used to changes and wished rafa sticks to a winning line-up instead of rotating so much cause its not a trusted formula.

Emerald also has a point about not jumping the gun i totally understand that  :)  but we're humans after all.

lets all rejoice in the victory anyway. i will hold my hand up and admit i didnt expect such a huge win but im delighted. all of our players played very well but Babel just needs to step up quickly.
