with all the injuries/suspensions and all to their side this surely must become an easier game for us so to speak...
still, hope benitez doesnt change things around too drastically... they'll probably struggle to put together a back 4 with all the missing players... 2 upfront and 2 natural wingers should trouble them i guess..

would start with the same back 4... have Riera, Mascherano, Gerrard, ElZhar with Keane and Kuyt(Babel) upfront...

Few are possibly gonna get what the wish for tomorrow Looks like Kuyts injured so lets see what team an formation Rafa sets up without Kuyt.

Im really Sceptical about this game Apart from there last match Newcastle have actualy been playing alright. So to even come away with a sneaky 1-0 win for us an keep us top ill be happy. Its deffo not going to be a roll over like a few have said.

Id take any win tbh. Newcastle are not quite the mess they were a few months back but having said that we have gone away and won at better teams so in theory we should be able to win. I hope Insua starts again. With Kuyt injured I would perhaps expect to see Babel start. But I hope Rafa doesnt play a 4-5-1 and play Keane up front alone. He should be a bit ambitious and play 4-4-2 with Babel up front Yossi on the right.

IM putting the cart before the horse here Bav. Loads are saying Kuyt is injured couldnt see anything meself yesterday to suggest he is . Just looks tired to me an out of form of late .i mean theres nothing on the offal yet But if its true an he has picked up a knock. It will be interesting to see what formation changes will be made. I am expecting Masherano to start tomorrow along side Xabi so god knows

For those who have had the dubious pleasure of visiting St James Park as an Away fan you will know that the away supporters are way up "in the Gods" in the corner of the ground. I'm reliably informed that it's a 1/4 of a mile from the back row to the opposite goaline !

The last time I visited was the 1-1 in 03/04 when Danny Murphy opened the scoring only for the Barcodes to draw level with a penalty which I can reliably inform you was deffo a penalty even from a quarter of a mile away ! :laugh:

It's an important one to win (aren't they all ? ) but particularly after such an impressive performance on Boxing Day. I fully expect Rafa to "tinker" as some have suggested but with 2 games so close together what do you expect ? I suppose if he tinkers and we win then nothing will be said but if we lose or draw then no doubt he will go from Hero to Zero in the space of 48 hours !

No Riera? And it looks like another start for Insua, if we had another LB I wouldnt mind seeing the lad play for Riera ahead of Babel anyway.

Newcastle have been quite decent at home and seem like a team full of new inspiration since the arrival of kinnear. The team started playing much better with him in charge. The team kept three clean sheets in the last six games and that is a very good achievement for Magpies. They had a difficult match against Wigan on Friday and eventually lost the match 2:1.
Thier home record is patchy. Recording two losses. They have been scoring fairly well but conceding aswel which is thier problem. 12 conceded at home already. The last five home games has seen good victories against spurs and villa.

Newcastle-Tottenham 2:1
Newcastle-Stoke 2:2
Newcastle-Wigan 2:2
Newcastle-Aston Villa 2:0
Newcastle-WBA 2:1

Considering thier stats of being prone to conceding goals at st james park i still dont think they will be easy pushovers as thier back line will remain very solid, and they will have very good cover from defensive midfielders Butt and Guthrie. As for thier Attack, on the other hand, will be weakened without Viduka and probably Martins.

We will have to weaken their defence and i feel we will with a rejuvenated keane firing well at the moment. We had an easy job against poor Bolton and kept our slender lead over Chelsea with a good win.
El nino could return to the team after the lengthy spell on the sidelines, but his still far from the desired level of fitness. Rafa will probably make some changes to his starting line-up, thus Macherano, Babel and Lucas are all expected to start the match.
This is going to be very tight match where both teams will not risk too much. We should have the edge and hopefully keane could contine his scoring run. 2-0 to us!

the last from tired week for all boxing day games will LFC pass through it with visit
St. James Park to face Owen, Guthrie.
as we hope the victory over St. James Park will become precious prize beside brilliant result at boxing day will be very important ahead in holding the premiership title
