Rumoured on BBC (not sure which paper they've picked up the rumour from) that Celtic are willing to offer £3m for him. Let's hope they entice him, if it's true. Should get him some meaningless medals

Liverpool's Pennant Snubs Real Madrid... For Wigan Or Stoke!
The Reds' out-of-favour winger may just have blown the biggest opportunity of his faltering career...
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool midfielder Jermaine Pennant has priced himself out of what would have been an amazing move to Real Madrid.

The British tabloid claims that the Reds and the Merengues were on the verge of sealing a surprise €3.7 million deal when talks broke down last night due to Pennant's wage demands.

The former Arsenal player, who has made just two Premier League starts this season, was reportedly asking for around €64,000 per week - roughly twice Madrid's €1.6 million-a-year offer.

Thus, the Spanish giants have pulled out of negotiations and turned their gaze elsewhere - perhaps to Aston Villa's Ashley Young or Tottenham Hotspur's Aaron Lennon, both of whom have been linked with the Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, Pennant's prospects look comparitively bleak. Either he will remain a largely unused squad player at Anfield, or he will be sent on a six-month loan in January.

But his destination, should he leave, won't be a European superpower. Indeed, it looks like he may have to make do with one of England's less fashionable clubs.

Wigan Athletic and Stoke City are thought to be vying for the 25-year-old's services as they look to add quality to their squads and keep distance between themselves and the relegation battle.

The Latics must be considered favourites to land the ex-Birmingham City star, as JJB boss Steve Bruce was manager at St Andrew's during the player's tenure there.

mmmm... yea okay... why he cant even make to our bench is beyond me... will always be better than Kuyt, Elzhar, Benayoun and the likes in my opinion.

This article simply has to be bollox?!

Surely no way even Ramos is daft enough to sign Pennant for Madrid.  And by the same token surely Pennant would have fancied it even if he had to take a wage cut.

Like Ronaldo - minus the goals, assists, free-kicks, diving, tantrums and skill.

He might play better elsewhere, little shoit that he is, but only in his wet dreams will he ever play like the diving portugese cheating :censored:

It stinks of BS through and through. Real Madrid would get Pennant relatively cheap, if they wanted cheap then why would their alternative be "Ashley Young" ?!?! £30m worth according to the Leprechaun, doubt he'd sign for them on £32k a week so would be a lot more expensive than Pennant. Besides anything else, how could Pennant be higher up their 'wishlist' when he's not even playing, the other two are (arguably in the case of Lennon) better, he would cost less but as a higher priority they wouldn't pay more than £32k a week for him?!?!?!?!?! Makes ZERO sense

Lennon sounds more plausible, not entirely disimilar to Pennant in abilities and underachievement. But I doubt they'd want either having been openly chasing Ronaldo who's worth the pair of them put together - and then some. Young might be a good option for them, tempt the Leprechaun with £20m bid, up it by a few at a time. But is he good enough for them? He could simply be a big fish in a small pond

Getting Wigan, Stoke or any other modest Premiership side interested isn't the problem, it's getting a fee out of them, him accepting their wages offer AND him accepting the step down in club. It's a crying shame that a pro like Fowler can't find a club that values his worth to them, but Pennant picks up his wages for doing nothing and turns down the chance to play football. What on earth was Rafa thinking when he signed him?!?!

If there was any truth in these rumours Real Madrid fans must be worried, first Zokora linked with them and now Pennant  :D

Imagine when they are confirming the line-ups for the CL-games and you hear Pennant is playing for Real that day. :D

Celtic couldn't afford his wages.

If this happens the RM fans have to question Ramos BIGTIME!!

He has multi-millions at his disposal and he goes for Jermaine Pennant.

Personally I don't think Pennant has had a fair crack at LFC but his time is clearly up after his discipline issue.
