Pennant is one of those funny players who are just hated by fans for no obvious reason...
hes played very well for liverpool whenever given the chance and yet all you hear is "hes got the wrong attitude" and "theres no end product to his game"....
i dont give a toss about his attitude off the pitch as long as he performs well when playing...
and whats with all the "h cant beat a man" bullsht ?! hes better than anything we have down the right when it comes to beating a fullback and and providing quality crosses... when was the last time the Oh so great Kuyt beat his man and put a cross , nevermind the cross leading to anything if your still talking about end product ?!

one of the main reasons we draw way too many games is because we'r a team thats very very annoyingly and frustratingly slow at starting moves from the back and getting the ball from defense to attack.. arbeloa gives it to Kuyt what does Kuyt do... he passes it back to either Arbeloa or Alonso... end of counter attack... Only player who takes the ball on and tries to run at people or tries to use space atm is Gerrard... Last season he was the one providing most of the assists because he was the only one looking to use the space and free up torres on the counters... We need more players who are direct and can actually hurt teams if they give us any sort of space.... with torres out of the side its going to be even more frustrating watching the team trying to pass their way into the opposition goal... it wont work at times and we'll end up dropping points..

now im not saying Pennant is going to change all that or anything... im just saying given the players we have, the players we'r missing, our style of play, how opposition teams lineup against us..etc etc Pennant should be starting down that right side whenever fit ahead of Kuyt, Benayoun, Elzhar...etc

I dont really understand why most down here dont rate the lad at all... like hes been a terrible player for us for the past 2 and so seasons... he hasnt.. his first season he was 2nd in the assist charts for liverpool and i think only Gerrard and Carra featured in more games than he did.... last season he played some very good football until he got injured and from then on it was lights out for him... give the lad a chance hes shown he do a job for us and we'r really struggling down the right flank at the moment..

goals ratio p1ss poor,kuyt on the right in the same posistion brilliant! you take the p1ss, you two tw@ts really do!!! fecking get a grip,pennant has got the wrong attitude on & off the pitch. if you actually went to  a game you or looked up stats like you love to do, you would realise the reason why pennant isn't picked for games,his fecking attitude! when he is given the chance to play for our beloved club he doesn't take the opportunity with both hands & give everything he has, he doesn't give any where near the desire,work rate or passion it requires to be considered for a first team place.

kuyt has more desire, heart, & the right attitude that keeps him in the side which is more than pennant has ever shown since he joined us. at least kuyt scores for us, creates chances for his team mates & gives his all every game he plays.

how many games have you been two in the last couple of seasons? not many if any i guess cause quite rightly pennant hasn't played. reason being -his attitude, & lack of end product end of.

Some of the best players in world football had sht attitude ON and OFF the pitch and they were still picked because of their ability... Kuyt has a good attitude but is a sht player.... his contribution to the team besides the few (very few) goals he scores is almost non existent when we'r going forward... hes not a right winger or a right midfielder or whatever and his duties given the position he plays require much much more from him than he currently offers...

about the goals ratio thing... not many wingers are well-known for scoring many goals... infact most wingers usually score very few goals and are better known for getting assists rather than goals... as i said.. given the players we have atm id take Pennant over Kuyt to play the right flank every day of the week... and now with Torres injured and Kuyt played upfront, surely Pennant needs to get recalled to the squad sooner rather than later... its starting to get rather silly with the whole pennant situation... sell him if we have someone better up our sleeves but until then just give him a chance to prove his worth...

Yeah Kuyts assists are supposedly higher than pennant ? go figure that out . You and your pal must of seen a different pennant to everyone else than most people on here . redhaysey has it spot on . all this about him being so good yet his end product is fecking awful , consistenly awful and still cant believe your slagging \Kuyt off yet he has been one of our best players this season so far along with xabi and gerrard .

Normally Rafa makes sure that a player who he's intending to sell is in the 'shop window', ie. getting some playing time so that we get a decent price for him.

Even if Pennant doesnt play there will still be some clubs that want him in the summer. I guess Rafa had planned to include him here and there but he probably doesnt want to risk fecking up the league position by playing him.

I'm not going to start a thread on this as it may either be construed as racist or turned into a racism debate when that is not my intention. This was merely an exercise I carried out in my mind as to whether we've had that many black players and if they were any good by compiling an XI

I'm not for one minute suggesting we should never buy a black footballer again, but there are so few decent signings in that selection that if company policies were permitted to make such a decision that they probably would - thankfully they could not, at least not legally.

There are a few who did a decent job (even if only at times) - James, BARNES, Ince, Cisse and some people will make cases for Heskey, Sissoko, Collymore etc - but how come we signed so many duff-uns when there have been some exceptional black players for other clubs?

Maybe we've had our share of good and bad, as with any colour footballer and it just seems like that XI is pretty ordinary - not sure I'd back it to make the Champions League. Then again I was populating most expensive option by position so it could have been better, could have been worse.

Former Birmingham City star turns down £4m move to Stoke City

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is furious after being told that the former Arsenal and Birmingham winger is not interested in a New Year move to Stoke or Blackburn.

Benitez was hoping to raise about £4m by selling Pennant to help fund his own plans for the transfer market.

Under the terms of the contract Pennant signed when he arrived at Anfield from Birmingham two years ago, he will become a free agent at the end of the season unless he makes 15 first-team appearances.

If Pennant reaches that number, Liverpool have the option of extending his contract by a further year.

But so far the 25-year-old has played in only four games and has been told by Benitez that he is surplus to requirements.

Both Stoke and Blackburn failed with attempts to buy Pennant in the summer.

That was despite Benitez warning the player that his first-team chances would be limited.

And the clubs' respective managers Tony Pulis and Paul Ince have been told not to bother trying to persuade the former Arsenal winger to change his mind in January.

In conclusion then all black players are rubbish and we should never sign another one again...

Disclaimer: Before any tool thinks I am being racist It is said tongue in cheek and I don't think all black players are rubbish.

To be quite honest I hate all this sort of talk. A persons a person as far as am concerned. I couldn't give a toss if they are black, white, yellow or green and I don't think the serperation of black people and white people for any reason what so ever is any sort of attitude to have and I absoloutely despise it. I despise the fact they were saying Ince was the first black english manager in the country, so what? Who actually gives a toss about the colour of anyones skin. The only time skin colour should cross anyones mind is if they are trying to get a sun tan.
