Joe, I realise that you are American, and I won't labour the point. I just don't agree with the way the elections work over the pond, and think they send out the wrong message, is all.

Apologies for any offence caused. I would much rather be joined at the hip with you chaps than this shower of c*nts across the channel.

Double agreed.
The whole thing was way OTT and sickening to watch!
Grown men and women crying and bawling like babies live on TV,every speech and broadcast from potential candidates was as cliched and cheesy as an episode of friends!

Congratulations to Obama and all that but if people think he's gonna change anything much...just give it a few years, everytime a problem is solved in politics another one pops up,at the end of the day he is more so a figurehead than anything else!
Once the novelty wears off that he is the first black president he will be complained about as much as Bush!

One of the things that dad taught me about politics when I asked when I was 10 was

"Son, no matter who wins, I'll have to go to work tomorrow and keep paying my bills"

Even if Obama wanted to change a lot of things, how much power has a president really have? How many weight has the Military, the Lobbies, the different interests?

It's sad, but true.  His whole campaing promises changes and hope, but I have not heard anything from him that would suggest this.  They just keep repeating these two words over and over again until these morons are brainwashed into thinking that they'll get some kind of a eutopia.  If Obama is serious about making changes, then he should abolish the patriot act and he should work on removing missles and Radars from Poland, but sadly I just see him continuing the work of GW Bush.

He also managed to get a record turn out for voting. Numbers not seen since John Kennedy. If money is what was needed to get more people of their :censored: to vote who is going to complain. It's not like he is paying everyone to vote. he just marketed himself. Why do you think McCain didnt spend that much? Because the republicans were doomed from day 1. Doomed from 2 years ago when the democrats begain outnumbering the republicans in congress. The writing was on the wall. He was just making sure.

Defence is something both Obama and McCain took no shorts with. After 9/11 do you really expect them to back away from defence? Hell no.

At least give him a chance before just saying he is all like the rest. FFS if anyone slagged Rafa off in his first few weeks what would you have said? Give him time. To all those slagging Keane of now (myself included) what do you say? Give him time. He isnt even in charge yet officially and already you are just writing him off. For fans who like to 'believe' you sure are a bunch of hypocrits when it comes to real issues.

At least give him a chance before coming out with stupid comments like that.

Why is it stupid?

Being a complete moron is part of the job description for the US Presidency.

Let's be totally, brutally honest about this, shall we?

The pathetic game show that is the US election is nothing but an utter f*cking farce. I'm suprised they didn't have cheerleaders and candyfloss.

For Christ's sake - I'm embarrassed for the yanks.

They are the most powerful nation in the world. They helped for the most part to win WW2. People naturally think differently over there after their country has gone through so much. Instead of just mocking them as a farce becasue you see it differently why not just keep your trap shut.

I have enjoyed reading this thread over the last few days, some very good arguments and opinions, I like the fact that people have educated opinions, even if their opinion is something I disagree with. Its good to have on what is essentially a football forum website.

Then you get people like this.

As I read his comments that came before this I presumed they were tounge in cheek but when then this came along and I realise he was just being retarded.

Great have an opinion, but make it sensible. You cant just go around saying your all :censored: bcos.... wel just bcos.

Your arguments are full f pit holes and you if you thought for one minute about the opinions you are putting forwards you would realise you were being rediculous and you would find many other of your own opinions and thoughts that contradict the rubbish you shpealed on here.

You are trying to get reactions by being confrontational like a 15 year old.

I happen to agree with Lando to some extent!
I dont see the big deal and to be brutally Fu*king honest Im sick watching it every channel I flick or every radio bulletin I hear at work.Barack Obama blah blah blah,FFS its pathetic. Its as if he's some sort of human messiah that is going to heal the world starting with the USA of course!
He's full of mad dogs shi'te like every other politician that ever walked the planet. The whole PR spin was sickening, photos of him in starbucks, leaving the gym and all that.
Oh look at me i'm mister all american guy,a family man like you mister voter i do normal things as well! Its a pity the photos dont show the helicopters and the 50 snipers outside the gym.People dont want to see that though, they want to fall for mister perfect and ordinary, mister Im just like you,my life was a struggle you know!I am proof of the American dream(pass the fuc, king sick bucket)

Colour does'nt come into it for me and it should not for anyone, the bottom line is any man is his position is a qualified bullshi, tter above anything else.He has charisma,a personality and is likeable. The truth is he's talked more shi'te and made more false promises to his nation in the last few months than he has told heartfelt truths, and the reason is blatantly obvious,he wanted to win!
Sadly the sheep followed, the main reason being they need something, they dont know what it is,but he seems as close to what they think they want!

"The most powerful country in the world" has a new president, whoopeee fuc'king dooo!
My money is firmly on the fact that he will be just a big of a co'ck than the rest of them and they'll be calling for his head soon...just like Bush!

See this is another thing that had me smiling in disbelief, firstly EVERYBODY is saying how his speech was the best in recent history. Compairing it to Martin Luther Kings famous speech ! People go over the top because he is black simple as. Because he is Black, his speech is great like MLK's. It wasnt, it was just a decent on cued speech. Personally I thought Mcains speech was very humble in defeat and that for me was just as good.

But the thing that got me was once Obama had been nominated President (elect) and this is where your quote comes into it. One of the very first things he mentioned or spoke about, was instantly to play down the promises he made while he was campaigning. Fecking great speech my @rse, people getting teary eyed ........ FFS do me a favour !
