Anyone got a couple of full backs, and a right wing we could have (cheap).

We should get Bale for LB and definetly Robben but i wouldnt say he that much better than Riera. I'd say atm that Riera is the better player let alone sign a diving chelsea ex player for 12mil+

I've no doubt that Rafa will be looking at Zaki but the press are again twisting his words on this one. Every source I've seen this one on claims Rafa is after him but when you read the quote Rafa actually says:-
But Benitez, who looks set to be in the market for a new frontman come January, has intriguingly admitted he will also be taking a close look at Zaki after his outstanding display against the Spaniard's side on Saturday.

"Everybody will be checking his situation now," Benitez admitted.

I'm being pedantic but where does Rafa say I'm interested in signing him?!?

Anyway he looks to be a pretty good player and certainly has a degree of the unknown about his play.

were does he fit in though, means Ur gonna have to drop Keane and cant see rafa doing that just after he has splashed 20 million on him,

We need a striker who doesn't mind coming off the bench,

look at utd they have teves rooney and berba, its only a matter of time before it all goes Pete tong, cant see teves wanting to sit on the bench, as i cant see this zaki wanting to,

He is an ideal signing for city. there not going to be able to get the likes of torres villa henry eto, there going to have to take a gamble on the likes of zaki and hope the form he is in isn't fluke, but i was very impressed with him against us

Rafa confirms Zaki interest

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has confirmed he is checking on Wigan star Ami Zaki, after the African hit-man scored a memorable double at Anfield on Saturday.

The Egyptian striker has taken the Premier League by storm this season with seven goals in his first eight game making him top scorer in England's top-flight.

He highlighted his form with a brilliant brace at Liverpool, which included a stunning volley at the Kop end.

Wigan signed the forward on loan from El Zamalek in his homeland and they always stated that they had secured first refusal on him.

No deal
However, in recent days, Zamalek have insisted that they will sell the player to which ever club they want, and Manchester City are already thought to have made contact via their new Abu Dhabi-based owners.

"We will have the right to sell Zaki to any club," Zamalek president Mamdouh Abbas stated.

But Benitez, who looks set to be in the market for a new front-man come January, has intriguingly admitted that he will also be taking a close look at Zaki after his outstanding display against the Spaniard's side on Saturday.

"Everybody will be checking his situation now," Benitez admitted in The Times

------------

Haveing re-read that after posting i realised wqhat a weak story it actually is.... the only quote from benitez is "Everybody will be checking his situation now"... and thats it... how does that confirm his interest ???

Rafa Reveals Aguero Snub
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has revealed that he passed up the opportunity to sign Sergio Aguero two years ago because he was too much of a 'risk'...

Aguero was heavily linked with Liverpool in the summer of 2006 after rising to fame with his prodigious performances for Independiente.

Then 17 years of age, the Argentine forward instead signed for Atletico Madrid where he has since established himself as one of the most exciting young players in world football.

“Two years ago the agents were talking with us about players and he was one of those but he was too young and [Atlético] paid big money for him, around 18 million euros for a player who was a risk,” Benitez said in The Times. “In the Premier League it’s different and sometimes players will need more time here to improve.”

The Reds boss opted to draft in strikers Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy for a combined fee of £18million that summer - £4million more than Atleti paid for Aguero. While Kuyt has since become a valuable, if not prolific, performer for Liverpool, Bellamy was moved on after a single tumultuous season.

Another player who got the chop at Anfield is Florent Sinama-Pongolle, who was sold to Recreativo Huelva in May 2007 to make room for the impending arrival of Fernando Torres.

Fittingly, the French forward is now in Atletico's ranks after penning a four-year deal in July and is likely to face his former employers when they visit the Vicente Calderon for Wednesday's Champions League clash.

“We had a lot of confidence in him, we knew that he’s a good player but he needed to play games,” Benítez said of Sinama-Pongolle, who was recently handed his first international cap by France coach Raymond Domenech. “We had Crouch, we were bringing in Torres, it was a question of space.”

Torres has been ruled out of a return to his old stomping ground after injuring his hamstring last week while on World Cup duty with Spain.

I wouldn't have paid £14m for a 17/18 yr old Aguero 2 years ago.

I agree with Rafa that it was a massive risk at the time, especially with our budget.

I thought Atletico were absolutely crazy paying that for someone as young as him.

We need to start playing babel or else i think he'll want to leave. He should be coming on as a sub ATLEAST in games. Imo he should be coming on for Keane or Riera in the last 25 to give us an attacking threat.

Signing wise i'd say we should get 2 full backs and maybe 1 more striker and then were sorted. After we exchange Xabi for Yaya that is :D
