2. The Yorkshire club had initially suggested a figure of £30 million, but it is understood they are preparing to increase that claim.

Above points taken from the article dont sit well together.

Why would a number of consortiums be interested if there is a very good chance they are about to be run out of business by a 30 million pound award against them?

Journalistic license once again?   ???

He is more a wingback than a winger so wouldnt be direct replacement for Pennant. But is a top player and would be a significant improvement on Arbeloa imo.
If its the same player he looked good in the euros as well, thought he might of been older than 26 if am honest though.

Not sure if you've got the right player there mate???

Man i was way off with my stats, Srna hasnt played in Italy, he was impressive in the euros though and looks a good wing back.
Not sure who i was thinking of, was bevvied, Dario Simic has played for AC but wasnt a full back anyway i dont think.
I must of been mangled when i was thinking about that last night  :D

Liverpool have been knocked back in a £5m move for Borussia Dortmund’s free-scoring right winger Jakub Blaszczykowski.

Dortmund president Gerd Piper confirmed Liverpool’s interest in setting up a deal for the 22-year-old Pole in the January transfer window.

But he added: ‘We wouldn’t sell him for any amount. He is too important to us.’

Dortmund also flatly denied any interest in re-signing Liverpool right-back Philipp Degen.

Rafa logic: "We get free player, then sell him back to former club. Make money, no?"

Brilliant :D

 , Selling back to degen , the cheek and back to his old club .

A 5 million bid for Kuba , thought we had a 8 million one rejected , seen him play a couple of times , impressed me , would be a good signing , 12 million tops though .

If we are going to go after young wingers in the Budesliga, why not bid for 19 year old German International Marko Marin

Was it not 8 million Euros, which would actually be a little more than £5m, but it's roughly the same. Very roughly.

As for Srna, I'd love to see us get him...

If there is to be a fire sale at West Ham then we should go for Mark Noble. He's a class act IMO

He certainly has potential. I'd agree, but isn't he another central midfielder? We don't exactly have a shortage of them.

Blackburn Linked With Arsenal & Liverpool Starlets
Submitted by Niraj Prabhu on Mon, 2008-10-13 12:34. Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal, Liverpool Premiership Transfer News
Blackburn Rovers are reportedly eyeing young Arsenal and Liverpool youth team players Jason Banton and Nathan Eccleston, both of whom are England youth internationals.

Banton is said to have had a disagreement with the north-London club, and as such it is claimed that the 16-year-old versatile forward’s future is no more with the Gunners, thus alerting the rivals.

Blackburn boss Paul Ince is looking to bolster the youth ranks with the Ewood Park outfit, and could have another David Bentley situation for the Rovers with the former Rovers star developing into a fine player after coming from Arsenal in 2006 before eventually leaving the Lancashire outfit this summer for Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, Eccleston, who features for the Reds U-18’s and reserves, is also reported to be on Ince’s radar. The 17-year-old striker is highly-rated by the Merseysiders for his ability and hunger for goals. As such, the Reds are likely to ward off any attempt by the rivals to capture the Manchester-born player.

Liverpool To The Rescue Of ‘Unsettled’ Bentley As Spurs Winger Set For Exit?
Liverpool are being linked with a cut-price bid for struggling Tottenham Hotspur winger David Bentley.

The Reds and Aston Villa had been linked with the England international in the summer, but the former Arsenal trainee joined Spurs in a £15million deal from Blackburn Rovers.

However, Bentley has so far failed to make any impact at White Hart Lane, largely as he has been played in different positions as Spurs manager Juande Ramos still struggles to bring out the best from his side with new players yet to gel at the north-London club.

According to reports, Bentley is feeling unsettled and could be heading for the White Hart Lane exit as a poor start to his season has seen the 24-year-old losing his place in the England squad.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez could seize the chance to move in for Bentley as according to The People, the Spanish tactician believes there may now be a chance of a cut-price deal in January.

United and Liverpool target sent off

Wigan midfielder Luis Antonio Valencia is said to be on the radar of both Manchester United and Liverpool.

On Sunday, he made news for Ecuador, getting sent off in the 76th minute of his country's 1-0 win over Chile.

Valencia was tossed from the match after a studs up challenge in a match that had three participants seeing red.

A move away from the JJB has been rumored for much of October with the Latics brass denying any report.
