1) Newcastle striker Michael Owen is a target for Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton. The 28-year-old's contract expires in the summer and is free to talk to clubs in the new year and he would be available for a knockdown £4m in the January transfer window

2) Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill wants to sign Wigan striker Emile Heskey for £3m but faces competition from the forward's former club Liverpool

3) Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly considering a January swoop for Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon, with the England international also said to be attracting attention from Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
21-year-old Lennon has been at White Hart Lane since joining from Leeds United in 2005 but, despite making a promising start to his career at the north London side, which forced him into the England squad, Lennon has not pushed on to become the star many thought he would at Spurs.
With the arrival of David Bentley from Blackburn Rovers, Lennon looks set to only play a bit-part under Juande Ramos in the Premier League season and could be open to a move in the January transfer window.
Should Benitez decide to follow up on this reported interest in Lennon then it is believed that it would cost the Reds in the region of £8million to reunite the winger with former team-mate Robbie Keane, who left Spurs for Anfield earlier this summer.

4) Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is reported to be eager to land Tottenham Hotspur’s highly-rated Wales left back Gareth Bale in January - for £15 million.
The Anfield side are looking to add depth to their squad in mid-season and are likely to go player-shopping inthe new year. They have a number of players on their radar and the versatile Bale has recently appeared on their wish list.
After being linked with a move to sign Aaron Lennon in the summer, it seems Liverpool are planning to paint Spurs red in January!

5) hamburg ease the tention on newkit by bidding 14mil for kuyt.

Bale - YES (would mean the end of Dossena or Fabio though)
Owen - YES (Supersub)
Lennon - YES (Solves our wide right problem - really rate him)
Brazilian - YES (this kid is supposed to sh*t hot!!)

Good work Rafa  :D

The Brazilian kid is 6'4" and is supposed to posses the strong aerial presence that Stu thinks we lack in central defense.

Might spell the end of Hyypia then? I can't honestly see Rafa letting go of Agger. I sure hope he doesn't anyway.

The Bale rumour is absolute nonsense. Don't know where the hell that load of twaddle has come from.

Does anyone honestly think that after spending 7 million on Dossena that after about 4 games he's ready to say "oh well he's sh#t" and splash out another 15 million on a left back?

Might improve our set pieces though ? Especially if Aurelio continues to be so injury prone.

Reading the players above linked to LFC, I can't help think that this is either a) spurious rumour released by tabloids in an effort to sell a few more newspapers, b) the same rumour but by agents short of a Ferrari or two, or c) some poster here with little else to do...

Here's one sensible question in responce to all of this : where the phuck is the money coming from, eh ?

Gimme a break....

Bale is good player , so far what i've seen compared to all our left backs bar JAR when he was here , he is young and has the time to improve though . Good set piece taker as well

Lennon is a very inconsistent player , at times he's brilliant and there are times you'd get frustrated watching him , would i take him over kuyt or pennant for that price , absolutely no and i think this rumor is bollox .

Owen - enough said , legend when he was here , would be a great striker partner for torres and is deffo better than keane , having 3 solid strikers , owen , torres and keane would be great . Owen is also a consistent goal scorer for troubled newcastle , and for that price , well you can't go wrong , even less than the 8 million we were prepared to pay when he left madrid .

As for the brazlian , i have heard of him but i have not seen him player , he's a hot prospect but so was lucas , cheryou . 6,4 , he's slightly shorter than crouch and if he comes , mind you not for that price , surely he's a long term replacement for hypia , when you are that tall , he's got to be strong aerially .

San José is 6 feet, but it doesn't matter because it is rumoured that the Brazilian can also play in central midfield and in the goal.

Funny that you mention Crouch who's heading is woeful in the same post as saying that because the Brazilian is 6ft4 he will be good in the air! :D
Surely Crouch is a prime example of the fact that height does not make you good in the air??
FFS Owen is about a foot shorter than Crouch but far better in the air.
We will find it very hard to replace Hyypia,in fact its gonna be almost impossible IMO.Hes not just great in the air, overall hes been a great all round consistant defender for us.

hey, this thread has been dead for awhile. and hearing news that we're gonna sign so and so gives us a huge lift and something to look forward to instead of the usual over-dramatic footie talk most of us have which ends up mostly in a not so pleasent way.

as for where the rumours came from, i found it on the internet.

as for the bit about ''poster who had nothing to do'', at least i know most other posters here would appreciate it. so if uve got nothing good to say, then dont.

Was that really needed?  Honestly?  You could of posted:

"This seems doubtful, where is the money going to come from?"

And that would start a good discussion.  But not what you posted.

Was going to edit, but I think someone already did my work for me.

My apologies.
