I absolutely hate those scumbags italian  in the national team, they always have their share of luck.

First we miss the penalty against them, then they have all it their way against France (probably including the fact that stupid Domenech was still hanging around... Boumsong for Nasri FFS !)

Well, now about my thoughts of Romania - Holland last night. They wanted to let us win but the only solution was to score an own goal, because Romanian players were not fancying their chances to score. Absolutely gutted, they have shown no determination, no passion and they were so ... impotent in this whole tournament. Only the keeper and part of the defence was good at this tournament, while the coach knew how to organize the defence, he could not command the attack. We never pressured the Dutch in the second half !!

What is more annoying is that our coach said at the end that the boys were thinking more about the result in Italy - France !! Why on earth ? We needed to win, not to expect a miraculous 0-0 in Italy - France that would have seen us through even losing 0-2 against the Dutch!

So, Sabre, maybe now you understand why Romanian good players are so scarce right now.

Despite getting through I still don't rate this Italian side, especially without Pirlo and Gattuso for the next game. Ironically the so called group of death has three of the weakest teams i've seen.

Torres and Villa will rape Pannucci and Cheilini imo. Italy have no pace and creativity. Their usual stauch defence is not their. I hope and expect Spain to beat them comfortably.

Yeh, I think Italy will struggle in the middle without pirlo in the next game. The only player I would rate in the Italian team is De Rossi, Grosso and Toni, who are fantastic players.

I expect the Italians will try to make it a very, very dour match and squeeze the life out of Spain.  God forbid they score first!  It's certainly a huge boost that Gattuso and Pirlo will be missing, though.  They will miss the bite and playmaking they provide.

De Rossi bossed the midfield today, excellent player.

France were cr@p, Domenich is an idiot, he should have started Benzema long before, he was excellent today, the only french player who was dangerous.

He was dog poo mate and has been in all three games, how he scored 30 odd last season is beyond me. He looks slow, his first touch hasnt been bad, but the french gave him acres last night and his finishing was atrocious.
The one in the first couple of minutes when Abidal missed the header and he dragged it wide one on one was terrible.
He must of been clean through about 3-4 times and his composure and finishing was awful.
With a better striker Italy would of won that by 4 last night and the game should of been buried by half time.
Thought De Rossi was decent carrying the ball but when he attempted cross field passes 2 or 3 times they went about 10 yards over the player he was attempting to hits head into the crowd.
I have been very disappointed with the italians and Donadoni with his selections and substitutions.
Not sure who is in the squad but when they were playing against an ageing 10 man France in the second half why didnt he bring on another striker or an attacking player like Van basten did the other day, they were there for the taking.

I'm sorry for you Radun, for once, I prefered ITaly to lose. I think Romania and Spain have similar mentality problems.

I'm sorry forr us, aswell. I respected Romania's football, but I respect Italian's mentality and will to win. You can't discard the Italians never. If they're about to die, you must finnish them or they'll have another chance to kill you -- and they will.

I don't consider Spain favourite for the ITaly-Spain game whatsoever.

Let's see what happens.

Anyway, good luck to Spain. They might need a bit on Sunday.

But....Italy and Germany - rumbling their way through the tournament. Not at their best by a long shot - yet still managing a result where it matters - momentum gathering?

We've seen all this before.

In my eyes its a call between Portugal, Holland and Spain (Croatia outside bet) for the title. But never discount those two careful/battle scarred giants ominously coming up on the rails...

Agreed, Red.  If Portugal and Spain don't do the business in the quarter-finals I expect we'll see one or perhaps both of those nations in the finals.  They do know how to pace themselves and grind out results before hitting their stride.  For the sake of variety and flowing football, I hope that the Iberians deal them a double knockout. :nod
