I'd still take Arshavin (the chances of us signing him now are slim, but he may be available in another transfer window), even though he'd be forced to play a slightly different role given we now have Keane. He'd fit in the side in a 4-2-3-1 without any bother, on the left or right, or behind Torres.

                                  Mascherano
                                     Alonso

  Gerrard                         Keane                          Arshavin

                                     Torres

As an aside, I can't believe Zenith paid £25m for that Portuguese bloke Danny, and from another Russian club?

yea Danny... highly rated player but 25 million from one russian club to another ! surprised the living sht out of me ! they'll never win the champions league and the best they can hope for is  going far in the UEFA cup and winning their domestic league... would have thought a club like Zenit would buy to sell for profit later on but seems they've got a different agenda !

As for Arshavin i havent seen much of him but from what i have seen i ave to see he looks like a great player and would do a good job in any of the positions you mentioned

I really dont buy all this premier league proven talk.  Foriegn players succeed in england are what makes the EPL so great.  Good players usually can go anywhere and play.  Arshavin would of been a fantastic buy!!!

There have been great players who haven't made it in the Premiership. Would you deny that Juan Sebastien Veron was a good player? Or how about Andriy Shevchenko? Hell, even Djibril Cisse looked like he had the potential to be a world-class player before he joined Liverpool...

That lineup would be unbelieavable!  Arshavin could play in Gerrard and Keane's positions with ease, like he does at Zenit.  I just can't understand why Rafa has not been interested in him, considering we bought Skrtel from them.

Yes there are failures but if it it was so important for proven premiership experience then no foreigners would be bought.  Its a risk but to me robbie keane at £20 mil is a huge risk and one I dont think worth it.

Oh well Quaresma has just offically signed for Inter so we can forget about that one, looks like it will be Riera and that's it for us.

Apperantely Inter want to get rid of Suazo.  I know that he's a striker but we could really use his pace and expirience in our team.

Ruskiy mate - the money we spent on Keane could have gone on Arshavin.

I think he's top, top quality - people who say "yea but he's unproven in the Prem" are
just coming out with garbage.
If we had the same questions about foreign players qwe wouldn't have signed Torres.

Benitez issues Pennant warning as Stoke launch £5million swoop for the winger

By Sportsmail Reporter
Last updated at 12:28 AM on 01st September 2008

Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has been told by manger Rafa Benitez that he has no future at Anfield

Jermaine Pennant has been warned by Rafael Benitez that he will be left in Liverpool’s reserves if he does not agree to join Stoke.

Benitez has told Pennant he has no future at Anfield and was hoping to sell to Blackburn or Stoke.

Stoke are prepared to meet Liverpool’s price of £5million, but Pennant has stalled the deal by demanding £50,000 a week wages.

This summers transfer window has been rather dissapointing to be honest.

We payed 4m more than we should have for Keane even though he is a good buy, our wide areas are a real problem and as yet we have done nothing
to address the problem.

So many wide players in the world and we wait untill the last day to try and sign one, it's the same problem year after year.

My shout would have been Alpey the young Dutch lad is class, we are just so narrow in every game if it's not dealt with we will find it hard to break down any teams this
season without needing a battering ram.

Alpay? Now that would be an interesting signing...

Do you maybe mean Afellay or are you talking about someone entirely different?

For the record, Afellay did look pretty good at Euro 2008, but I can't say for sure that he'd be any good in the EPL. Then again, I'd rather have him than Aaron Lennon. He could well prove to be an extremely good player.

Fook me £30mil+ bid for Berbatov from Man City!!!!!

Is Larson to them Toffee Scums a valid rumour? They can have him, he looked past his best when he was with Man Ure last year!

Hmmm that worries me slightly.......

He's got 8 hours so come 12 tonight there will be uproar i'm sure if we miss out on him aswell.

Just been checking him out. Some of his clips look as good as Quaresma if not better!
