BBC rumours:

Spanish champions Real Madrid have completed the signing of Dutch international midfielder Rafael van der Vaart from German side Hamburg for £7.1m. A potential blow for Cristiano Ronaldo, perhaps? (Spanish radio Cadena Ser, 1031 BST)

I know its got nothing to do with us but £7 million for Van der Vaart??!! - I know he's not quite world class but he'd have been a great option on that left hand side for £7mil...

I wouldn't call it robbery. It was known that VDV was available for this sort of money and Real was fast and intelligent enough to react. I have no idea why Rafa wasn't interested :Oo:

Roma are reported to be lining up a move for Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun, skysports.com understands.

Benayoun's future at Liverpool has been the subject of speculation all summer with a number of clubs keen on signing him.

Manchester City and Benayoun's former club West Ham are thought to be tracking the Israeli schemer and now Roma have joined the chase for the 28-year-old.

Reports have suggested Liverpool may be prepared to sacrifice Benayoun after Rafa Benitez admitted he would have to sell before he can buy again this summer.

Roma chief Luciano Spalletti is in the market for a new attacking midfielder after seeing Amantino Mancini leave for Inter Milan and he is thought to be an admirer of Benayoun.

Should Roma follow up their interest with a firm move for the player, Liverpool could decide to cash-in on Benayoun to enable them to raise funds for the signing of Gareth Barry.

^ Sell him in a yr or two, but not now. He can be really useful sometimes, and there's not many players out there with such quality who'd be willing to spend a lot of time on the bench.

I do not think Yossi will get sold. However, if it turns out that somehow the difference between signing Downing and Silva is the price of Yossi, I wouldn't miss him too badly.

Benny scores alot of goals and creates alot too. I am still praying we sell pennant and then sneak in to capture Silva:p

I think pennant will be the one to go, voronin also has a high chance of being offloaded. I cant see yossi being sold because he is an extremely useful squad player. probably get 8 - 10 mill for pennant and voronin. I wish we didnt have to see to buy not the way a top 4 club should have to operate.

£200,000 a week. I really doubt that. That would upset a whole heap of players at Real.
