FFS I read the other day in a paper he was born in England and moved to the states when he was very young..cause his folks were in a circus or some sort of performing roadshow.

Christian Bale is Welsh. Though he's probably more English than Welsh if that makes any sense. Home is where the heart is and all that. He'd a very thick English accent in Empire Of The Sun (yes, he was the small boy that stared in that film).
