Arshavin is very talented. Unfair to judge him on a poor game last night.

Adebayor is staying put so that puts the Crouch to Arsenal rumour to bed

I like the lad but recent valuations over inflate his worth.

Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

He's had a few shaky moments this tournament, particularly against Ibrahamovich in the Spain-Sweden game. Saying that I like him a lot but prefer to see him play at centre-half.

Just a couple of points. Firstly despite playing cr@p against the Spanish, I stick with my original impression of Arshavin, he's a top player. He was by no means the only Russian who didn't get out of bed, and I actually think Spain somewhat fortuitously being forced into playing 4-5-1 had more to do with him being starved of support and possession than it did with his own lack of ability. Still within the framework of a disappointing effort there were moments of quality, little glimpses of something there. Watch him again Lee and give him a chance, he'll convert you with a little piece of magic.

Secondly I noticed the stories about us being in for Downing. I for one hope there's nothing in it for two reasons. Firstly he is a fair bit short of being top class in my opinion which has been proven when he plays at International level. Secondly what he does best is put crosses into the box, which while being all well and good seems a little superfluous given we are about to sell Crouch. Although I don't think he's the right player, I would much rather us sign a Silva type who cuts in and links up, what we don't need is another 75 crosses per game Pennant to play on the other side. The other reason I hope we're not interested in him is that he apparently signed a five year contract five months ago. It would be the latest example of us playing the contract game incorrectly. We allow Crouch's contract to erode and effect his value massively, then we show interest in players whose clubs are able to hold us to ransom. All we'd need to do next is offer them a straight swap for Pennant, or 4 million quid and go public and we'd p!ss them off as well.

Thankfully I don't believe the downing story will come to pass, although in all honesty even though he's not my favourite player he is a better bet than Milner I should think.

Looks like another player we have been linked with many times is going somewhere else:

According to reports in Portugal this evening, Inter have secured the £27m signing of Ricardo Quaresma.

The Nerazzurri have been linked to the Porto star for several years, but made the final step when Jose Mourinho took charge of the team.

Newspaper ‘A Bola’ has announced that Quaresma has already agreed terms and the two clubs have reached a deal worth £27m.

A group of Inter directors flew out to Portugal for the crucial negotiations and it could be made official over the weekend.

It is also believed the reason for a delay was Vitor Hugo Gomes Pele’s refusal to move as part of the transfer bringing his fellow Portuguese midfielder to Italy.

“I have a contract with Inter,” said the 20-year-old on Radio Renascenca. “At this moment I want to remain and be coached by Mourinho. We’ll see what will happen.”

Arshavin does look a good player, but the only team to have done something against the threat of him are spain, and I think its fair to say it was quite easily done as he didnt do much, of course he isnt playing in a team of superstars so that limits him also. Would he do well in a premiership match? no, he doesnt have the muscle or the ability to match the pace of the premiership. I like the player, I also feel he wouldnt do well in england.

players can adapt.  He has more than enough ability to adapt to the premiership.  cesc fabregas doesnt exactly look like he could compete in a battle of strength but ability and technique is a wonderful thing which makes it possible good players to go and play anywhere.

I've been a BIG fan of this lad for a year or so. He's got a lot of potential but £27 million!!!?!!! That's a lot of money of money for potential and an overspend of 7-10 mill in my book.

As for Arshavin. I'm completely gutted, I'll bet he will be a Barcelona player by the end of the summer. You have to spot players like him BEFORE they catch eveyones eye at a big tournament.

On the Downing rumour, I sincerely hopes it's boll.ox. He's a decent player but falls into the Bennayoun, Pennant, Kuyt bracket for me. Hardly gonna help us take the next step.

I'd still love us to make a play for Robbie Keane at Spurs.

Huge fee.  Will be interesting to see what the real fee will be if true.  I didnt think he would go for more than £20 mil.  20 mil + is a huge amount for someone who hasnt reached the next level yet but Porto do well when they sell players.  They always make sure they get big fee's for there star players.

France Football say Jose has signed Lampard as well.  4 year deal £5.8 mil a year.  Fee £7 mil.
