Latest transfer rumor

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

I think he's right footed Hacksaw, he was playing just off the main striker palyuchenko tonight...seemed to drift out both sides when given a chance and made his run for the goal left of centre....byt yeah - either way he could sort out one of the wings for us.

Rumours price him in the region of 10-12M which is a bit much cause although he looks great the prem is a big step up from Zenit. Dont know if we could afford him at the much but closer to 8M and Id love if he came....

I live in hope after reading that comment by Ballague, early last summer he seemed to suggest we'd sign Torres or Eto'o - he was right, now he seems to be suggesting Rafa's preparing a nice surprise, someone of real quality.

Since we're more than likely to stick, in the main, with this 4-5-1 formation (our interest in Barry indicates as much), signing Villa seems unlikely.

The more likely player would be Silva, I think. He's a top quality player too.

I must admit I have only seen bits and pieces of him before tonight - but others have mentioned him in the past as destined for the prem and I liked what I saw. The russian team played well tonight, very well in fact, the left winger Zhirkov looks a good player as well.

Phone numbers and prices please....

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE sign him Rafa. He's by far the best we can afford with our speculated budget. I'd be so made up if we signed this lad.

arshavin's price is going to be well over 10 million by the time the euros are finished. the international press are creaming themselves over him and so are the majority of football fans. i've no doubt a number of clubs are getting ideas and it'll likely end up as an auction.

Is the one who scored once in about 20 appearances last season? At least we'll have cover for Voronin...

Rafa's made numerous attempts to take him on loan (yes i have seen his goal record) but Rafa has made numerous attempts to take him on loan ,see it doesn't alter the fact .

I agree with one of the comments above: You´d have to really stand back and look at Russian football to objectively decide whether a russian lad could adjust to our style.  English football is fast, hard, skilfull, intense and requires 101% concentration. Russian footie.... to be honest I dont know..... however I´m pretty sure its more like Belgian standard than our own. I´d hate to spend 10 million then have to sell him to CSKA Sofia or Warsaw City for 3 million 12 months later because he was overwhelmed by the step up.

Chelsea baulk at Barça's Deco fee   Thursday, June 19, 2008

Deco is close to agreeing personal terms with Chelsea but there is still a wrangle over the fee being demanded by Barcelona. The Spanish club want €20m (£16.7m) for the midfielder even though they have declared he can leave and the Portuguese international turns 31 in August.

Chelsea will not pay more than £10m and Deco's agent, Jorge Mendes, will have to continue negotiating with Barça to reduce the fee for the Brazlian-born player who Luiz Felipe Scolari is keen to make his first signing at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's hopes of signing Kaka – always slim despite indicating they will pay whatever it takes to secure the Brazilian international – have received a blow. The 26-year-old told the Brazilian TV channel SporTv that he "appreciated" Chelsea's interest, but said: "Thank you, but I don't have any desire to leave Milan." However, he added the interesting caveat that he would leave if the club wanted to sell him.

Steve Sidwell, meanwhile, has moved a step closer to leaving Chelsea. The 25-year-old midfielder is to hold talks with Aston Villa after a fee of £5.5m was agreed with Chelsea. The only potential stumbling block is persuading Sidwell, who has attracted inquiries from eight other clubs, to take a significant reduction in his wages.

He joined on a free transfer from Reading only last summer and is paid around £55,000-a-week but made just eight league starts last season. Villa are prepared to pay Sidwell around £35,000-a-week and are confident that he will accept their offer.

Sidwell, if he signs for Villa, will be regarded as a replacement for Gareth Barry although manager Martin O'Neill's interest in signing the player is long-standing and, at one time, he hoped to pair him with the England international.

However, it is inevitable that Barry will eventually join Liverpool although Villa are holding out for more than the £13m on offer. It's understood that O'Neill hopes to follow-up Sidwell's signing with a bid for the Valencia right-back Miguel although he is reluctant to meet his £11m valuation .

Both Miguel and Deco are in the Portugal squad for Euro 2008 and the latter has held talks with Internazionale, now coached byJose Mourinho who, like Scolari, is Mendes' client.

However, the Italians are also reluctant to pay the fee demanded by Barça and have also set their sights, firstly, on trying to land Chelsea's Frank Lampard.

The England midfielder, who turns 30 tomorrow, has one year left on his contract and will open negotiations over a new deal when he returns from holiday in the next few days. He is asking for pay parity with the club's highest earner, John Terry, who earns £135,000-a-week although Chelsea are reluctant to pay that amount. This week the Inter pres-ident, Massimo Moratti, declared Lampard as their "number one objective" in the transfer market.

Mauro Zarate, Andrei Arshavin, David Bentley, etc. These are the sort of players who are realistic for us to target and could make a difference. So why are being linked with defenders and second rate English players.
