Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

united and chelsea have dream teams? I obviously watch different football from you then mate.

on paper we've probably got (right now) as good a starting 11 as anything in the league. What we don't have, is real quality coming after that, consistancy, passion or the right mentality. Now money can only buy one of them...real quality in the squad.

Sure United and Chelsea have better players in certain positions (left back and wings most obvios) but we have better players than either of them (central midfield and up front) So it evens itself out. It's the other attributes I mentioned as to why we're so far behind. Our players are far to incosistant, don't play with enough passion for each anc every game and don't have the right mentality for each and every game.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Once again you miss the point. Dream team as in they get to buy who they want rather than having to compromise because they don't have the cash. NOT that team is a dream to have or I would dream of having a team like that. Go read that post again and maybe you will understand my point.

The fact that we have as good a squad as we do is a testement to Raffa's savvy in the transfer market (hense the overachieved comment). Raffa has never had an open cheque book like Utd or Chelsea.

we might have a better midfield and the best forward around but they arent exactly lacking in that department

essien lampard ballack mackele mikkel, drogba kalou

scholes anderson carrick hargreaves, rooney tevez

i think the gap between our full backs and wingers and theirs is greater then the gap between their forwards and mids and ours if you understand??

but having said that we have a great keeper, central defenders and midfielders and the worlds best striker imo, plus some promising young players babel lucas nemeth insua plesis etc.....
so if we can get these quality fullbacks and wingers in im sure we can win the league

so chelsea and united didn't want Pato? they didn't want Mascherano? neither were linked with Torres?

United and Chelsea miss out on players just like every other side in the world. They don't get "who they want" because if they did they'd have Steven Gerrard wearing the number eight shirt at Old Trafford/Stamford Bridge. They'd have that Pato lad, along with Messi, Ronaldinho, Kaka and Mascherano. But they don't because they don't get "who they always want"

They don't have to comprimise...Chelsea wanted Gerrard, ended up with Mikel. United wanted Torres, ended up with Tevez. Chelsea wanted David Villa, ended up with Salamon Kalou. United wanted Alan Shearer, Ian Wright and Matt Le Tisser, ended up with Cole, Yorke and Blomquist.

Savvy in the transfer market? have u seen how many players we sell after such a short period due to the absolute lack of savvy we have in the transfer market. yes we get gems torres, masher etc but for every one decent player theres 5 that dont lat a season

Well when you pay 6-8 million per player what do you expect. Those gems you mentioned we had to break the bank for . Prices that Utd and chelsea have been paying  on a regular basis for a while. Utd pay for a defender what we pay for our best forward.

then kazza why spend 6-7 million on 4 players who wont cut it? its just bad business. when we brough bellamy, gonzales & pennant we could have just brought... whoever... just someone who would work. wSaying rafa has great savvy in the transfer market is just plain wrong.

Well it wasn't because they could not meet the asking price but because the players wanted to go somewhere else.

Now compare their compromise with ours.

Well maybe the board refused to sanction one 24 million player but insisted on squad improvement instead. Go back and read my post and you will see I said we have not progressed as far as we should because of administrative reasons (ie Rick Parry) and I think Raffa has made the best of a bad situation (ie no money).

no money...go tell that to Rotherham who've just went into adminstartion for a SECOND time. Go tell them that 150 million is no money.

Sorry but that is bollox, the comparison is not vaguely relative.
You'd think they'd have learnt the first time.

Thanks for that, you just proved my point.  :D

By the way Heinze and Skrtel do not play the same positions. We are still looking for a left back and Skrtel came in due to the injury to Agger.

well maybe? so in other words you dont know. Rafa would not manage a club where he was told by directors who he could or could not buy. we;ve just brought poorly, smiple as.
