Liverpool or Arsenal? Where will this £4m bargain buy go? Great potential!

April 15, 2008

Steven Taylor appears to be nearing decision time, the Newcastle centre back is yet to be offered a contract he feels matches his salary expectations and this could lead to a summer bidding war, or alternatively he could leave for free in the summer of 2009?

Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor is becoming more and more frustrated with the club over a new deal. The highly rated defender is upset that talks have not been reopened with the club about a new contract.

It is reported that both Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring the situation at the club as the player’s contract is up in the summer of 2009 and therefore he could leave for as little as £4m when this season comes to a close (The Sun)

Having put in some solid displays in recent weeks the London born defender is reportedly peeved that he hasn’t had his contract negotiations re-opened. Maybe Kevin Keegan has other irons in the fire? Maybe the 22 year old wants more cash? Either way come the summer the defender may be on offer on the cheap to prevent a move further down the road for free! Do the Toon Army faithful value him highly and do fans of Arsenal and Liverpool see Taylor as a good signing to make

Spurs lead £12m star chase, but can Liverpool win race for the top-notch talent?

April 15, 2008

You always get conflicting stories in the tabloid media and today seems no different.

Tottenham look favourites to sign £12m Croatia midfielder Luka Modric from Dinamo Zagreb. (Daily Express)

Of course a few days ago Luka made comments that suggested that the only team for him was Liverpool! So what now? He’s a great player with a bright future but will that future be at Anfield of White Hart Lane, or indeed neither?

Yeah cheers for that ........ Jerry.

:D

Can't leave it alone can you Ron.  At least the racist comments have dried up recently, well done!

Gerrard Approves Barry Move

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is fully behind Rafa Benitez’s plans to bring Gareth Barry to Anfield. Benitez has consulted his skipper about the possibility of a summer move for the Aston Villa midfielder, and Gerrard has backed the plan all the way.

It is no secret that Gerrard and Barry are good friends off the pitch, and they seem to have formed a very useful midfield partnership at international level for England.

British tabloids this week reported that the Villa skipper was at the top of Benitez’s wish list, despite the abundance of talent Liverpool currently possess in central midfield.

It could be that the Liverpool boss is seeking a replacement for Xabi Alonso, as there have been rumours of a rift developing between the Spanish playmaker and Benitez.

Villa boss Martin O’Neill has been offered right of first refusal on Peter Crouch and John Arne Riise, both of whom the former Celtic manager has expressed interest in, in the hopes of reaching a player-exchange agreement.

However, with both Portsmouth and Manchester City keen on Crouch and Newcastle interested in Riise, Benitez may be willing to shell out the £12 million Villa are reportedly asking for Barry.

Liverpool have also been linked with Manchester City youngster Michael Johnson this week for the same amount.

I think that if we move for Barry then the league is definitely going to be the priority for Rafa, because there's no other explanation for it.

Because that's the type of players you need if you want to do well in the league.  He's English, he has a strong build and he definitely has the premiership experience.  Basically he's the type of player that we needed against Manure at Old Traford.

Manchester United have failed with a bid for Olympique Lyon striker Karim Benzema.

DiarioSport says United had a formal offer of £22 million for the France striker rejected by Lyon recently.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a big fan of Benzema’s and is sure to try again if he feels there’s a risk of losing the youngster to a rival European giant.

Would love him here , young , great player and would learn loads from torres adn stevie

Man Utd, Liverpool in race to sign Porto fullback Bosingwa

Porto fullback Jose Bosingwa will consider his future at the end of the season.

Manchester United and Liverpool are among Premiership clubs chasing the Portugal international, who said last night: “My contract is with Porto Football Club. For the moment, I want to play in the Cup final and then after that consider my options.

“I want to do the right thing by the club, which has done a lot of good for me.”
