This is the most perfect example in along time of how to completely ruin a thread. People quoting whole passages of text and following that with one and two word answers, as well as asking questions about how to quote etc which are entirely irrelavent to the subject matter, and then debating that for two pages. When I clicked ona nd saw the debate had extended to six pages I was thinking it had got interesting, but alas no.

yes good point,  but thats the way it was with GH as well. Even the day he left some still said the club was wrong to sack him.

Good point. So lets get back on track. I think rafas biggest downfall is his stubbornness. His determination to prove that his way, be it out of form players, rotation, in form players left on the bench have been his biggest downfall. I support they guy but theres no denying recent performances have been less than convincing. Is that down to rafa or the players? Id say both, either way one thing is clear I dont think this is a blip, if it is isnt it our second one this season or is it continuing for a long time? If rafa starts playing our more in form players (which at the moment is difficult to pick) then maybe it will simply be down to the players not showing the right attitude. Up front is a good start, Babel or Crouch to partner Torres, then the best midfield, defence and Reina !

see my problem is say Rafa is still hear in the summer, he starts ok again but then falls short by november and we get  rid of him.

that would be another year gone.

If they are going to get rid of him in the summer what ever, then lets do it now, find a manager that can start to work with the team now.

dawson99 wrote:Rush job, Rafa has brought in a shed load of players in the 6-7 million mark, they lasted around 6 months each if lucky (bellamy for example) . and the players hes buying now (babel played out of position, torres til only recently playing as much as he should)

hes had the money, hes spent a lot, but its all one in one out all the time, no time to build up a team to win things. All we ever talk about is shipping players out to get more in. The reason we are always talking about that is that the management are buying the WRONG players.

now nobby bob if your brain cell can work that out, and stop being so narrow minded, you'd see how bad things are actually going at the moment.

I know that mate but he hasnt got that bad a record with 6, 7m signings, and we've got our money back if not a bit more on the one's that have gone,we'er not talking GH here. When he has spent that kind of money on young guys he mostly done well, Agger, Reina, Lucas, Arberloa even Crouch if we wanted to sell could fetch doulble what we paid. The problems come when we have to sign a stop gap like Kuyt or Pennant because we lack funds, instead of Alves, Simau and Villa.

But come the summer, deadwood is off loaded, better players are brought in, and rafa gets off to a good start because the core if the team is set in concrete in addition to better players. Or get a new manager in now and go another 3 or 4 years while the new guy tinkers around with who he wants at the club. I think one more season. If the money is available then we can only get better, there will be no Kuyt missing the chances we may actually get one that scores, there will be no sissoko, as the midfield we have now will be settled (and that I think includes mascherano). Babel will more settled also and we may even bring in class wingers. Id say one more season.
