All in all I don't get it though. I mean to the untrained eye it's virtually the same design as before as far as I can see. So why the big announcement saying the previous design had to be shelved for a lesser model? Seems such an unecessary fuss over nothing.

The "plans" we've been shown are just speculative sketches. It doesn't appear to have changed because it won't look exactly like that anyway. :p

The cost-cutting was probably on internal parts anyway. They had to find £50m from a £300m+ stadium. Why redesign the whole structure when putting slightly lower quality bogs in saves thousands. It'll be savings like that they'll be doing although I bet the chairmens' executive suite has the same quality of stuff :D

Thats the way the building trade works mate!

Planning permission is rarely granted on first application even on a small scale building.

Usually engineers etc. will turn a design down on one or two minor details, ask you to change them and re submit the application...Then they say yeah thats fine work away!

Everyone knows in most cases the first design was flawless.Basically the application has to go through a chain where a lot of people charge money to the wannabe builder for their services.

Its in their interset to say no to the first idea because everyone from the architect up to the council and private engineers that advise them get paid twice!

Its called getting screwed but the planners/builders never argue because the powers that be can become awkward further down the line,so its always accepted not to make waves!Just the way things work!

Surley the banks would have wanted to see the plans and drawings for the new stadium given they are lending such a vast amount of cash to fund the project.

Its like asking for a mortgage on a new build house and telling them you do not have any plans or designs.

In view of this I begin to doubt if we are any further forward as they wheel out a picture of the old design stadium that was scrapped, or so we thought.

The plots thickens

The banks have only loaned £60 MILLION to G+H for the building work to begin . G+H still have to borrow atleast another £300 million in the futue to carry out the rest of the stadium . That means they will have loaned £650 MILLION to get a new stadium and to be owners of LFC . where do you think they will get the money from to pay back the interest alone year in year out .No chance not in a million years can they pay it back ,not until they sell up that is .

I just saw the new pictures on the official site.

The stadium is amazing. Surely the finest design in the world.

Looks like no other stadium I've ever seen.

Fantastic design. Can't wait to see it under construction.

I would think some interior elements have been dropped like the executive jacuzzis and corporate steamrooms.

The exterior looks the same.
