If we don't sign any more players I will be very worried going into next season as will other fans. I want to see at least 1 or 2 new people, our current squad could so easily create another performance of last season.

I think we have a good enough 1st team to challenge for the title but we definitely don't have a good enough squad, we need strenght in depth in every position in order to challenge for the league and do well in the champions league!

Imagine the scenario if Hyypia, Gerrard, Carragher and Owen picked up knocks in the first game of the season - obviously we can replace them but not with a similar quality player - we need at least 2 or 3 new signings.

We don't have a good enough squad or first team to challenge for the title. We are currently a long way short. Houllier talked about his five year plan, which was madness as we know. Benitez is now talking about his three year plan.

It's not what we want to hear.

Finishing higher than fourth would be a spectacular achievement but we are well short of what is required to get close. Arsenal have a sensational team playing fantasy style football. We have a way to go yet.

Focus please ladies and gents or indeed this thread will be dumped into the introductions/general chat forum!

I have to admit I am extremely surprised by the lack of transfer activity in and out of Anfield. I fully expected Benitez to bring in a lot of players this summer (not necessarily Ayala or Baraja, but Spanish League players) and get rid as many of the existing squad as possible.

However, he appears to be taking his time and will probably wait until he has all the senior players back before he starts making big decisions.

In many ways its a good and measured approach and hopefully will cut down on many panic or uneccessary buys we saw under Houllier, but at the same time the squad clearly needs some work, and two or three decent signings are badly needed.
