Skysports.com understands Manchester City are waiting to find out if Juventus are willing to sell duo Giorgio Chiellini and Manuele Blasi.

City are believed to be chasing the Italian duo as Sven Goran Eriksson looks to reshape his squad at Eastlands.

Italian Under 21 international Chiellini is believed to be considering his future at Juventus as he is concerned about his first-team chances with the Bianconeri.

If City move in on Chiellini, than it looks like we have put almost all our eggs in winning this legal war over Heinze as far as cover at the back for this window is concered. I guess there is still plenty of time to find other players what ever happened to our interest in Kompany?  Although Riise hasn't been challenged much on the defense front he seems to be offering a lot in attack from the LB position right now, if his form continues I do not see anyone that we would buy taking his place regularly, and isn't Aurelio, Arbeloa, and Insua good enough cover?

We already have Mikel San Jose.  A lot of the other seem crazy or uneccessary.  If Juve really wanted to spend 12 on Momo, then I would let him go. Pull the Heinze bid, and get Kompany, Richards, or Quaresma, or Silva.  And I know this Idea sounds bonkers, but I would sell Kuyt for Owen and cash. EVEN IF Owen is only fit for 2/3 of the games, he will offer more of a goal scoring threat for the season. We lack an out and out striker, and Voronin looks pretty good even if Owen fails. seems like Torres likes to play somewhat deep and create, and so does Voronin, and Crouch is good to flick his headers from long balls on to a clinical finisher.

..BUT RAFA STILL ON SPENDING SPREE
BIG SAM WANTS A BIG SPEND AT NEWCASTLE
By Daid Maddock 31/07/2007

Liverpool chief Rick Parry has insisted that despite a summer spree of £50million the spending is not over at Anfield.

And manager Rafa Benitez could exploit that backing by targeting at least two more captures before the Premiership season gets underway.

It is well-documented he is prepared to spend close to £7m to snatch Gabriel Heinze from Manchester United, but he has also been busy identifying a back-up should that deal get embroiled in legal wrangling.

And he believes Wigan's England Under-21 international Leighton Baines could be the answer to his problem left-back position, after the defender turned down the chance to move to Sunderland.

The capture of the young Englishman would be a coup for Benitez, not least because their neighbours and sworn enemies Everton are also interested in the player.

But Benitez also wants more cover at centre-half, knowing that should Jamie Carragher be injured his Premiership title chances would also go with him.

And he has not given up on another wide player as Harry Kewell is in the final season of his contract, and will not be offered a new deal. Benitez would love to land Chelsea's Arjen Robben for £17m, although the Dutch winger seems committed to Real Madrid.

Parry said: "It was always the plan to get a lot of our transfer work done early in the summer because that gives the manager the maximum opportunity to settle players in.

"But we are far from finished doing business and if the right players come along then we are prepared to go and get them."

looking like Heinze might end up at Juve instead of us.  that'd be a shame but whiskey nose will do everything in his power to make sure that happens, wouldn't be suprised if the price suddenly reduces too, just to rub it in.

Chelsea would never sell to us, it's the same situation as Manure. I'm sure all this Heinze talk is just meant as a wind up, Rafa knows damn well Ferguson would never sell to us but now they have to get rid of Heinze!! :eyebrow :bowdown  :bowdown

Would love to see Mancini or Quaresmo sign, I still think we need better wingers than we've got

I'd be more than happy to see Baines come in ahead of Heinze and at a similar price he represents better value to me.
The fact that Sami hasn't moved on suggests that Rafa is happy to have him in the squad for at least another season so he may still be mulling over a move for someone like Mancini, the Robben link is total bollox as I think I remember hearing he'd agreed terms with Real and is just waiting for them and the Chavs to agree a deal (but that was a couple of weeks ago).

Theres deffo one more deal out there for us though, I can feel it in me waters I tells ya! :D

daniel alves says - 'I am flattered that Chelsea is interested in me. The career of a footballer is very short and it's necessary to take advantage of all the opportunities that come your way.
