Do you honestly think Stevie G and Xabi would have been so eager to extend there contracts if they didnt think something big was round the corner?
Xabi said these were exciting times to be at Liverpool and the club is on the verge of greatness.........
These guys know something that we dont....................................so just chill and let the pre-season unfold.

I would not be listening to Torres' agent and like others have said offer no more than £16m, he's not the answer anyway and if were gonna pay big money get someone like Eto'o cos I'm sure now Henry has signed for Barca that they'd listen offers, especially with La Porta no being his biggest fan (as reported by Sabre).

Paisleyred, you might have a point there mate but I'm sure the media would have hear something by now cos you can't just sign high profile players and not just expect it to go undetected.

Pre-season training starts on Thursday. I have been "told" that Rafa would like someone in before it starts.

Rafael Benitez has told supporters not to panic about the club's lack of transfer activity so far this summer.
With the the first batch of players due back at Melwood for the start of pre-season training on Thursday press speculation is rife as to what 'big names' are on the Liverpool manager's shortlist.

But although he's keen to strengthen the squad as soon as possible, Benitez remains calm and insists progress is being made behind the scenes to bring new faces in.

"We have a number of targets, and I am receiving interesting phone calls all the time," he said.

"We are monitoring situations all the time and there is no urgency yet. If we bring in players from Spain, they only finished playing a week ago so they will need a longer break, but I would like somebody in before we start pre-season training."

If Were stuggling to come up with money to get Torres, how are we going to afford a move for Etoo? Etoo would cost at least several million more. Etoo in my opinion is out of the question, if there was one in the first place. Cant see why Rafa dosent make a Move For Owen. 9m Is a massive Bargain.

According to the Echo Rafa has a list of 5 strikers he is interested in. The 5 Strikers are Torres, Tevez, Milito, Hunterlaar and Kone. So it looks like Eto'o is out of the running as well as Owen. Maybe Owen is a fall back incase all the other deals go tits up ?

I hope not in that order Saint? Who is the Kone lad? Is he at PSV?

Sorry to sound like the welsh wizzard but i have been hearing some interesting things off a few mates on the coast and they are saying that rafa and liverpool are definately taking matty taylor from them. I would welcome that move. Versatile left sided player who i think would be first choice left back ahaed of JAR.

Why are some people reporting 25m pound on the torres story? Its 25m euros!

No idea about the order mate. Yes Kone is off PSV ( Cisse wannabe, fast as fk )

I think Taylor would be a decent signing as he can play in a few positions and scores some spectacular goals too. I like Riise (one of the few left

) so I am not sure he would be first choice, but Taylor would certainly be a good backup.

since we're on PSV....why arnt anyone talking about JEfferson farfan from psv..... brilliant winger ... will do well in the league in england...loads of pace ... is powerful as well ...ideal for the EPL...

Kone is the black lad with the bleeched hair, I'd have Huntelaar, Millito or Tevez, not too keen on Torres and deffo not Kone cos he's not a world class striker.

Rafa may want to unveil all his signings at the same time..............
To put his cards on the table and say to his rivals 'here is what we have, look at the players we can sign in one foul swoop'
You may hear nothing for a few more days and then one day find out we have signed Malouda,Simao,Torres,Benayoun and A.N.Other.
Here is hoping.

Kone is an interesting one. He's one of the players that gave our defence most trouble this season actually when we played PSV - I'm not surprised he has caught Benitez's eye. If Bellamy goes then we could do a lot worse for a pacey option. We still need a main man up front though and I don't think that man is Kone. Be interesting to see what PSV would want for him.

Taylor's name is coming up a fair bit at the moment, there might just be something in that. Quite a similar player to Riise I think, but I'd still think Riise would be in ahead of him if he was signed. Although we still have Arbeloa and Aurelio to compete for left back with Riise so is Rafa thinking of Taylor as a left midfield option? He's certainly played both left back and left mid for Pompey - primarily left back though.

Whats the latest on Yossi Benthegoon ? Could it be a sign that Garcia could be part of the Torres deal as reported and Rafa wants a replacement ? It all seems to have gone a bit quiet regarding him

I have an alternative forward who i have been surprised no one has ever took a gamble on, he is a natural goalscorer and was top scorer at last years world cup his name is klose,i think he still plays for werden bremen. Ithink he would suit the premership, does anyone else agree?

Supposedly on his way to Bayern last I heard. Good player who could have been a success in the prem though.
