not gonna happen with rick parry on board.

So you think that without Parry we would have signed them?

we need someone more aggresive in the peter kenyon typa mould.
parry is good no question though.

Cannot understand you, first you intimate Parry is poor and incompetent, ant then in your reply you say he is good. Eh..?

good but not good enough.

Many out here do not want to accept the reality....What rafa has said and what is being done is totally
Something wrong is going one....or itz just some clever tactics...to remove the preception that we don't really have that much money so when we go for the a quality player the price wont be a price which could feed a country

Although not world class, not good enough to be a starter and not ambitious enough if he were to be a main singing this summer, he would be useful as a squad or utility player.

Right.

But Garcia will be fit.

And we have Leiva.

So what exactly is your point? Rafa rotating Garcia, Benayoun and Leiva in what is potentially the biggest missing link in our squad - i.e. a consistent creative forward?

Sorry mate, the argument you make is not viable. We don't need 3 squad or utility players for that role, we need 1 primary player, in the same way that Stevie and Carra are definites.

With Garcia and Leiva as the squad/utility players.

Benayoun is capable of the occasional moments of spark, but he is not the solution.

Leiva from what ive heard and read is more of a defensive mid, not occupying the space behind the striker and does not score many goals.

Im not suggesting Garcia and Benayoun are to be deployed as a constent, integeral player of our starting team. it seems to be the intention of rafa to have to have back up in every position.

We have seen last season, even with a moderate injury situation, the toll of prem, champs leage and the cups takes a toll on the team. Imo opinion there would be enough space in our team next season even if we sign another striker, for garcia and benayoun (or any player similar)

Leiva is an attacking midfielder, with similiar strengths like our Stevie.

He makes the same kind of runs, not as physically strong as Stevie but is young enough to develop the physical presence. He did not win the brazilian player of the year, playing defensively  :D

I hope its not another summer of signing players that improve the squad and not the team.

Lucas Leiva
Season Club Country Level GP GS
2006-06 Grêmio  BRA A     30   4
2005-05 Grêmio  BRA B      3    0
Career Totals:                 33   4

Classified as football database as a defensive mid.

When he signed rafa said can be used as a holding mid however has the capability to get forward and score goals.

regardless he does not strike me as the tricky player who comes on a provides a spark and creates something out of nothing. i know he has been compared to gerrard alot and that cant be a bad thing.

like u said he is still somewhat physcially imature and will have the usual adjustment period for a young player moving to another country and learning another language and imo we cant rely on him to produce next season. not having a go at the guy i think he could potentially be brilliant for us and i think he really is a great signing.

The goals mean nothing mate.

I would suggest that you do some historical research on how exactly he has been deployed. He is not a defensive/holding  midfielder in the mould of makele or alonso. He plays exactly like Stevie. The goals scored stat is very misleading given the nature of the brazilian league.

That is the point though! He is young and not ready for the EPL, which means its either Garcia or *potentially* Benayoun in that role. That does not fill me with confidence

Pako: Benayoun? How much do we pay Rafa?
Rafa: 1 million pounds Pako, otherwise we bring a cheaper Spaniard
Pako: 1 million then. Offer him.

They'd be fúcking serious about that and they wouldn't realise it's an insult  :D

Nice one Sabre  :p

okok go ahead and sign all the second class players for liverpool on the basis of convincing themselves the need to cover injuries..but if these are the only players we have at the end of the transfer period, expect a humiliating gap from the leader next season again..(The American Owners better show that they are not fooling us with all the "mounting a serious challenge for Premer league champion" nonsense,Im watching...)

I wish someone could make this all go away, Benayoun for christ sakes  :veryangry

If some of these links are genuine we are going to hell in a handcart and down the pan for sure.

I thought we had hit rock bottom with the Forlan speculation but it appears theres another layer of :censored: footballers below even that stench of a rumour.

Theres time yet for the club to deliver quality footballers but if some of these names end up at Liverpool our summer spending spree is going to be the mother of all dissapointments.

Right the chavs have just signed tal ben haim on a free , they have not gone and signed a player for so many millions of pounds yet , they have got a good squad player.

Now do you think that ,that's the end of there signings , proberbly not.

If we sign benayoun , do you think it will be the end of our signings .

A little perspective is needed i think.
