Mr hicks interview - Just watched it on ssn

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Just watched interview on SSN with MR Hicks, He talks a lot about Carra and Stevie signing new deals and also said, with a wry/cheeky smile on his face, that we can expect some major news on the transfer front (maybe) in the next week!  :)

The worrying thing was he said that Parry was in charge of the contract negotations!!!  :Oo:

Hicks said one big name signing this week that the fans will be very happy about, the other is from Rafa's scout he has said we no longer want Alves but there will be three signing this week.  :buttrock

Eduardo Macia. He is one member of Benitez's staff, the technical director of Liverpool since June 2006, after replacing Paco Herrera who joined Espanyol.
Yesterday he talked to ABC for a few minutes and categorically denied that his club will try to sign Alves, in spite of what the Daily Mirror published yesterday. He assured us that it wasn't a negotiation strategy "you don't need that in England" and he also said that the price tag Sevilla put on Alves last season was "prohivitive".
Macia was clear and concise "he is ruled out. Will we finally sign him? You know that in football you can't never say never, but for the time being he is ruled out. We are not interested. Last year Pennant arrived instead. That Pennant is a winger? Yes, but Alves is a very attacking full back, isn't he? He was our second option. At the back we also have Arbeloa who can play as right back. It is true that we tried to sign him last year, we were very close". The person who "discovered" Silva and today is  in charge of more than 70 scouts that handle a list of 10.000 players reminded us that at Liverpool they are not given to "telegrah" whatever negotiations they may be involved in. In fact, no source advanced the signings of the three players that Liverpool have already signed: Leto, Lucas and Voronin. ABC has found that Liverpool will make  three more signings for the next season.

I have reassessed mhy opinion on Parry for now, although he has shown himself to be almost incompetent in the past, right now with new owners and Rafa breathing down his neck, he must be shitting himself and working hard. At least for this summer he may remove his thumb from his :censored:.

The fact that Hicks mentioned that "lawyers were involved at the moment" and that "certain contractual details had to be sorted out" points towards Tevez to me. Here's hoping anyway.

He'd bring the same spark that Jari did when he played imo.

How that lad did not become a legend for us is beyond me, an absolutely fantastic player, with a sublime touch and vision
