Thanks for posting. Heard snippets of it on 5 Live yesterday but I've only just listened to the whole thing.

In all honesty I don't think I could be happier with what the guy said -

1. Money available to strengthen the team
2. Best football stadium in the world
3. Long-term contracts for Gerrard and Carragher
4. 100% support for Benitez
5. Use 'worldwide' fan base as means of generating revenue
6. Maintaining the 'tradition and unique history of Liverpool'
7. The new stadium will be designed around the Kop

Could we have asked for any more?  :)

yep- very good interview. He actually seems like a nice guy who has a lot of ideas to make us very successful. Each time i hear their news i feel happier with the whole sale. I can't wait to see the new stadium plans- i'll also be very interested to see what ideas they have regarding the kop as he mentioned something about standing options (in pods or something).

I just hope we beat Arsenal (for once this season) as with all their families their watching, if we can get his wife onside then roll out the chequebook!! :D

I thought that was a pretty impressive interview. He seemed a little uneasy during the press conference last month but has certainly done his homework in the meantime and said the right things.

My main concern isn't the 'war chest' Hicks and Gillett will provide Rafa with in the summer, but getting the new stadium built because that will ultimately generate the additional income needed to compete at the top end of the transfer market and he seems committed to providing the best stadium around and making the new Kop a unique part of it. He was even able to take the pi$$ out of himself referring back to his 'Liverpool Reds' comment.

I know there will be people still sceptical about the takeover and I understand that, but I hope this interview has helped to alleviate some concerns. I guess we'll get a fuller picture of their plans once the takeover officially goes through, but I'm looking forward to what will hopefully be a bright future.

yeah he does seem quite normal as opposed to someone like Glazier who apart from looking like an inbred- i've never actually heard him talk (never mind so openly). He seems a lot more composed than before and even had a joke about Gillett and his 'franchise' comments!

They both seem like good blokes and are obviously good businessmen.

When talking about the budget for players it's a shame he mentioned "I'm not going to tell you what it is because it's part of Rafa's plan" - as now everyone knows that we'll have more than we say!! (although i'm sure they could guess this anyway). I think Rafa's going to be playing a lot of games in the transfer market so as not to get ripped off!

Excellent find mate, I love the was he has big ideas, just hope he can keep his word now.

I guess he's heard about Owen, McManaman when he said “But we will do so when it’s the right decision and the right player. We will also ensure that the big players already at the club, like Steven Gerrard, are kept on long contracts.”

I find that Tom Hicks has more brains that Gillett does, I like the guy  :buttrock

Morgan a fan of new Reds owners

Steve Morgan, formerly Liverpool's third largest shareholder, has given his backing to the new US takeover at Anfield
The building and hotel entrepreneur had held six percent of Liverpool shares and had three times tried unsuccessfully to buy control from former chairman David Moores.

Now Morgan has revealed that he sold his holding prior to today's final deadline set by new owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Morgan will have collected around £10million for his stake, at £5,000 a share, while Moores has acquired £88million for what was his controlling interest.

US sports moguls George Gillett and Tom Hicks are already guaranteed full ownership of Liverpool, having passed the 90% threshold, which means they can take the club into private ownership and will now never again have to hold an annual general meeting.

Shareholders who have not sold already will be forced to do so under a compulsory order.

Now Morgan has revealed a meeting with Gillett convinced him that the deal was right for the club's future.

Morgan said: "I spoke to George Gillett and recognised he needed the 100% ownership, so I decided to sell my six per cent share holding to the new owners.

"He seemed a nice enough guy and we came to an understanding on the matter. I recognised the deal was going to go through.

"As a Liverpool fan, obviously it's a sad day for me to have to sell my shares after 12 years ownership but it seemed to be in the best interests for the future.

"Now, like every supporter and shareholder, I wish George every success in his ownership of Liverpool."

Gillett and Hicks will now begin the process of purchasing the shares, before formally taking control.

They hope that will happen before they return to England at the end of the week, when they plan to watch the home game with Arsenal and hold their promised meeting with manager Rafael Benitez over the long-term future of the club.

Benitez wants to discuss every aspect of the way forward with the new owners, including his transfer budget as well as plans for expanding and improving the commercial side as well as youth planning and training facilities.

The Americans also face more critical planning meetings as they make a decision on the future of the Stanley Park stadium following a review of design changes that can be made within the current constraints
