At the moment i think rafa is playing his cards very close to his chest,he knows who he wants and when the time is write he will strike. whats the point in coming out and saying yer were definatly interested in this player or that one cause the other 2 scumbags will go sniffing and what happens priced out of the market again. liverpool need a couple of big names and i reckon he will deliever.

I'm not too bothered that Rafa seems to be pretty quiet. Just because he aint being vocal about his targets doesn't mean that we aren't working behind the scenes to make things happen. I expect to see the first big name signing early this week! :)

Liverpool have no intention of making a bid for Sevilla's Brazilian right-back Daniel Alves according to the club's joint-chief scout Eduardo Macia.

In an interiew with www.abc.es, the man chosen to replace Paco Herrera last summer, admitted that whilst the club had been interested in the player last summer, he is not in their plans this time round.

"We've dropped our interest," Macia is quoted as saying. "Will he end up joining us? In football you can never say never but at the moment we're not interested. Instead of him we signed (Jermaine) Pennant. Okay, so he's a winger but Alves plays very high up the pitch. We've also got (Alvaro) Arbeloa who can play in that position."

Macia, who was chosen by Benitez to replace Paco Herrera who last summer left for Espanyol, is credited in the same article as being the man who discovered Valencia's David Silva and that he is in charge of around 70 scouts who handle a database of around 10,000 players. However, recently he was critised in the Liverpool Echo for relying too heavily on Italian agents, which perhaps explains Daniele Padelli's (hopefully) brief stay on Merseyside.

No estamos interesados.

I think if we were going to get him we would have got him last season, when his price was a bit more reasonable. £20million for a full back/right midfield player is a bit too much for us.

Makes sense Coker to Villa , Parker to West Ham, Barton to Newcastle and Souness to City.

My suggestion is this.

Look up the nearest cryo factory where they can freeze you for the next 20 years coz its going to take that long to see any results.

Said it before the team of 2035 is going to be awesome!

Bit of patience needed by all on the transfer front i think. Fergie has got his men but if (as expected) Rafa is looking to La Liga for his targets it is unlieky we will see anything untill their season has finished up. I assume that will be next weekend. We're not likely to see the likes of E'to, Silva, Alves, Villa et al signing when their respective clubs are still fighting for championship and champions league places.

Liverpool made a late attempt to hijack Nani from the Mancs(Sunday Mirror). While we failed in our attempt at least it shows we are making serious attempts to buy big money players.
