Like him or loathe him he is one hell of a player that I wish we had, he is the reason they have won the league this season, and if he played for us we would worship him.
Still reckon Kaka is better though

Top, top player. No arguing about that. I've not read Thommo's book but apparently it's all explained in there how close we were to signing him. I'd love it if he played for us.

Can anyone elaborate on that Thommo story?

Here's a transcript of how it went J-Mac:

Parry: Hi Cristiano, we'd like to take this oppotunity to welcome you to Liverpool and England and hope you would be interested in playing for us here at Liverpool Football Club.(Introduces C.Ronaldo to G.Houllier and Phil Thomson).

C.Ronaldo: Why thanking you Mr Parry, I am very interested in what Liverpool have to offer. I have a lot of clubs interested in me, but Liverpools history and tradition makes them a special club in my eyes.

G.Houllier: Ve are ah very special club here Mounsour Ronaldo. The most succesful club in da Ingerland and we 'ave a array of young and upcoming talent like Diao and Diouf.

(Ronaldo's and his advisor seem to have a funny cough, and ask for some water - Ronaldo looks like he is crying)

Ronaldo: Ah I see,are you planning to build your team around these young players, will I be a major player in the future of Liverpool football club?

GH: Ahhhh, we ave many wonderful idea's for you Cristiano. We want to bring you here, and make you the most complete Defensive midfielder in the world..

CR: Eh?!? I am winger, the most skilled winger in Portugal at present, not a defensive midfielder!

GH; Surely you have seen the good work we have done with Harry kewell converting him into right winger, we plan to do the same to you, trust us.

(Ronaldo gets up and walks out muttering to his agents - "get da red nosed son of a whore from Manchester on the phone")

GH: That went very well I think, no?

(Parry and Thomson just look at each other)

Great player! I can't believe that site has people who have posted over 700 posts....some people must REALLY hate him. I'd rather punch Fat Frank in the face than C. Ronaldo...oh well

He is a good player - does it week in /week out in premiership but has not run rings around LFC/Chelsea or top Euro teams like Milan (either leg). He had one good game against Roma but otherwise had never scored a single goal in CL.

Didn't exactly shine in the world cup either.

Good player but usual premiership hype means that running rings around Wigan make you better than Pele. :angry:

Fantastic player, would love him in our team. And the worrying thing is -he can get even better , final ball end product etc. He stepped into Beckhams boots , in some ways the way Dalglish did to Kevin Keegan

But he plays for the enemy..and once a player gets that disease , failure enlightens my very soul.

Wasn't referring to you judge, rather the creators of the website. I think it's pathetic to hate someone that much to devote a whole website to that hatred.

It's definitely not the Liverpool way, we support our team and don't get caught up in petty hatreds of other clubs to a point where it's obsessive like Everton and the Mancs.

Again this is not aimed at you Judge, I'm not trying to sound patronising.

Genuinely sorry about your father mate, it's a pain which I can only imagine. That is indeed very sad. Best wishes to him and your family.
