Return of the ficklebuggers - New season, new expectations

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby big al » Sat Jul 03, 2004 2:15 pm

The institute for certified ficklebuggers announced today that studies on some Liverpool fans have confirmed a propensity to talk out their backsides.  The study has confirmed that some fans have the same memory capabilities as a gold fish.  When a player has a bad run of form the ficklebuggers cannot remember their past glories.  Superstars such as Michael Owen, and Stephen Gerrard  have been recently abused by such people.  Doctor Urtakinlepiss explains

"The typical ficklebugger tends to look at football in a linear fashion, they see players as mechanical devices that have automatic controls with no emotional or human substance.  Then when a player is'nt preforming to their best ability they see them as transfer material"

The ficklebuggers syndrome tends to strike armchair footballers who spend their lives playing computer, football management games.  These games give the ficklebuggers a false sense of knowledge and understanding of football.

The effects of this were highlighted recently on Liverpool Chat forum when a ficklebugger posted a topic where he selected his favourate 11 players.  When other forum members challenged his veiws he exploded into a tirade of abuse, followed by self doubt, and shame.

The choosen tactic at the moment seems to be the use of the word "kid"  apparently you cannot be more offensive to someone than call them kid.

Doctor Urtakinlepiss said  "I've seen many cases of ficklebuggers over the years but in the last few weeks none have been as sad as the ficklebuggers who attacked Stephen Gerrard as being a traitor an a Judas, Gerrards preformance for his national team also lead him to be attacked, when it was obvious to everyone the lad was wrecked after carrying his team for a whole season.  Likewise Michael Owen, who is to sign later this week, has been referred to as being only substitute material.  My diagnosis of these people leaves me very sad indeed"

It seems that the ficklebuggers only attack world class players who have given everything for the club and more.  Useless players seem to go ignored, at Liverpool for example Igor Biscan ( who's S**T) remains unscathed.

The coming summer months will no doubt once again prove to be a frenzied time for the ficklebuggers as they spread stories and rumours that everbody and their granny is signing for Liverpool FC this as doctor Urtakinlepiss explains is normal,

"one of the main charcteristics of ficklebuggers is that during the summer period the cerebral patterns in the brain start to create dillussional psychosis, this encourages the ficklebugger to exhibit omniscient behaviours

In other words they become know-it-alls.

thankfully once the football season starts and their predictions a lack of post match analysis make them more visible to the public at large, equally they retreat to the sanctity of their computer management games"

So good news to all you non-ficklebuggers the season is only six weeks away, the manager Benetiz seems ficklebugger free.

And remember the best way to work out who's a man or a mouse is to set a bit of cheese down! :D

Agree with most of it...

However if its to have a go at me please tell me where i have posted ****** about Gerrard and Owen? All i suggested where a few signings which would improve the side then i simply defended my views when people questioned them. :)

couldn't agree wit you more al. the way in which the words traitor and judas were directed at our most inspirational and loyal player in the off-season was a disgrace. if anything the players who didn't pull their weight and try gettin their places in the startin 11 last season are the disloyal ones.

Although, i must admit, even though i know it is all bulls.hit, transfer spec. does give me a bit of a buzz.
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,

While I am more than aware of your longevity on this forum Al , I must stress just lately your posts have been less than humble in fact they have taken on an air of superiority  . I am sure your aware of the saying  your only as good as your last game and todays headlines are tomorrows  chip paper ,then surely this rings true for certain Players who are lucky enough to sport the red shirt of Liverpool .

I am by no means advocating  the abuse these players have been receiving but the different traits of the forum members adds to the cocktail of opinions that serves to spice up this Forum .

Scousers tend to wear their heart on their sleeves and some deem it essential they shoot from the hip ,it may not be essential journalism but its screamed with passion  and an unswerving devotion to the cause and its been passed down through generations , so however loud or unforgiving it appears to be, remember its vital it remains as vibrant and uncensored  to attain its status as the voice of the people, and not  some diluted media translation

Al this is just a difference of opinion in the past your posts have been  inspiring but this one is beneath you  and I fail to see the humour the same ficklebugger’s  pay to watch the Red Men  week after week they surely warrant an opinion and just because they are less informed as us older members does that entitle  us to pour ridicule on their naïve views and treat their posts with  apparent distain  ,how will they learn humility and respect  if we scorn their opinions .

A true story Al ………  I made the biggest gaff ever in my young an impressionable  life while watching a Derby I proclaimed proudly that Duncan McKenzie should sign for us ,the look my dad gave me will live in the  memory forever , Time stood still then his face softened and he said with a smile“ NO LAD, LETS LEAVE HIM WERE HE IS THEY NEED HIM MORE THAN US ” Face saved but for them few agonizing moments the Kop went silent for me ,and here I was trying to impress my dad with my football knowledge and all the time just standing next to this great man was an education in itself .

Good points Red.

When I was 15 my Dad knew nothing about anything.  When I was 25 I was amazed how much he had learned in the previous 10 years

Stu don't be so paranoid, Red Beergoggles you miss the point totally mate,

The ficklebuggers in a way envelops all of us, to various degrees. In fact it envelope's all football fans.  Beckham is now supposedly ****** while once he was a genius.  Just watch and sooner or later Rooney will be called ****** too.

The ficklebuggers just can't help it, so if anyone takes offence so what in a month or two they'll probably agree with me.

I agree that some people change opinions of players week by week but for example Del Piero a few years ago was considered world class.

But now after the last 2 seasons he is just a shadow of the player he was and still manages to pick up 100k a week.

That is too long a period of time to be just off form and when players with undoubted talent dont perform it is a sad waste of talent which most of us would kill for.

Alot of players these days seem to think they play well for a season or 2 and get themselves a big fat contract and thats it,they have made it and can relax.

For instance look at barmby who never lived upto his potential and cost clubs nearly 20m in transfer fees and a few million more in wages and now after picking up a hefty wad from leeds is now in the 2nd div.

I bet he is also laughing at all the mugs that ever believed in him.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.
